The clash of her kryss against their swords and the whirling mass of colors as spell after spell fired off into the afternoon skies. And when the smoke cleared and the dust once again settled on the beach of Magincia, she stood proudly. Paytience Fawn was not the thief who had broken into Sylvan's home. She was no longer the scared little girl who stuck her neck out in an effort to prove it didn't matter. And she was no longer the child running from port to port, running away from the adopted life that had been shoved upon her.
"Have you come to challenge?" Joanna's voice was calm but curious.
Paytience had nodded her head.
Three hours later she stood on the edge of the Basilica looking out into the curling waves.
"New colors?" Tor's voice cut through the breeze.
"Additional job." She replied, not bothering to turn around.
"Heh."
"Don't worry, I won't interrupt your time with your girlfriends."
"Well, I have so many. You might get underfoot."
It as her turn to laugh. "Think of it this way. You won't ever have to wait for dinner as long again."
"When you put it like that..." Tor's voice trailed off. Quietly, he put his arm around her. He didn't have to say it. They were going to do what they did best. A smile curled at her lips as she saw the Bane Dragon and it's companions charging toward them.
Time to meet the natives. |
