Greetings to you Wanders and Natives of Sosoria,

It has been much time since I have had the chance to speak with you. I certainly hope this hasn't been taken as a lack of interest in your lives or activities. Indeed I still recall the conversations our peoples have shared on matters of spirituality and greater purpose, whether that be matters of faith or fate, with a certain fondness.

To be honest, I do not even know whether this missive will ever find you. As elusive as the gypsy is, I am concerned that some calamity may yet have scourged you from the realm. I certainly hope this is not the case. While there have been certain disagreements between our people from time to time, mostly in regards to the occasionally pugnacious behavior of the now errant Lich Lord Darrien Church, I hold your words and presence in high esteem.

I wish to meet with you, any of you, that we may speak once more. There is so much I seek to know that only the eyes of your ilk would readily see. This is nothing political, I assure you. In no way do you risk some sort of tainted association with Umbra by speaking with me, as speaking is all we shall do.

I look forward to your response.

Signed,

Archmagus,

The last time my people had dealings with yours, though interesting as far as conversation went, your Herald sent a gift of chains to me to distrubute amongst my own. The implication was not lost upon me, I assure you, nor have I forgotten.

Ever have the people of Umbra, whether under the yoke of the ab'Arawns or Darrien Church, claimed to embrace diversity and be naught but scholars and philosophers. In truth, yours are the most reviled people who ever trod upon the canvas of Sosaria.

Should we visit, we will come armed and wary. Convince me that this new rule is not simply a repackaged regime of stagnation. Until that moment, I will not put my people in harm's way.

Greetings to the one who calls themself Arahim,

It is unfortunate that you took my inquiry as to suggest that this had anything to do with the Order of the Ebon Skull or Umbra, as there was no mention of such in my missive. Rather the insistance that this was between myself and whomever of your ilk are still present in the lands. What the errant Herald or Lich Lord did is largely beyond my ken as I did not have particular part in their schemes, whatever they may have been.

I make no claim that the Order is nothing but scholars, and diversity has never been something we have embraced. As for being reviled, most visionaries and those that do not march to the tune of the common ideologies face such things. I would have figured that the gypsies would understand this more accutely than most, having been persecuted much as we have. I detect a hint of the corruptive mindset of the so-called "Lightbringers" in your purpose and words. Whatever "sins" you may ascribe to the our kind, they pale in comparison to what the Lightbringers have either committed or blandly watched occur to your kin. Like myself, I ask you not be so quick to judge.

But again, let us set matters of politics aside. This letter was a personal one, nothing more. I am a scholar and a teacher. I am prone to conflict only when goaded to do so by those who would seek to undo our work. As you have no such intention, I doubt there will be any need for violence. If you wish to visit us upon our lands you are free to do so. No chains await you here. If there is another location you would suggest, inform me of it.
