Temperance could feel him before she realized he was inside her house. She briefly wondered what happened to set him off this time but her mild curiosity passed in the time that it took her to open the door.
"Saevio..." Temperance began, watching a small table fly past her head just before it crashed into the wall and splintered.
Saevio wasn't listening. He seemed barely aware of the fact that she had just walked in. Temperance looked around, taking a mental inventory of what she would need to replace when he was finished.
"You are destroying my things." she said calmly.
Saevio picked up a chair and turned to face her, his red eyes flickering with rage. She slowly brought her hands up in front of her, in case he decided to hurl it at her. Temperance stood perfectly still, watching him, waiting. The muscles in his face twitched in anger. Saevio looked between her and the chair he was holding. He blinked twice, realizing why Temperance brought her hands up. He slammed the chair down and sat in it, his hands balled up into fists and his head lowered. Temperance walked over and knelt at his feet. She looked up at him, examining his face.
"Why did you come to my home?" Temperance wondered aloud.
She waited quietly until his rage begin to subside. After a few minutes, Saevio was ready to speak.
"I..." Saevio paused. He looked down at her helplessly and, just for a second, his frustration was replaced with embarrassment. Temperance blinked, inadvertently acknowledging the uncharacteristic emotion from Saevio. He knew she had felt it. He hated that she had felt it. His eyes flashed. His jaw clenched. His hands balled into fists again.
Temperance quickly put her hands on either side of his face. Saevio, so taken aback by the gesture, stopped raging almost immediately.
"Why did you come to my home?" she asked him again, her crimson eyes fixated on his.
Saevio paused, collecting his thoughts. Temperance eventually moved her hands from his face to his fists. He absentmindedly unclenched, taking her hands into his. She stared at him evenly, waiting.
"I want to move in." Saevio eventually answered, sounding somewhat exhausted.
"Oh. That makes sense." Temperance replied. |

Walking through the woods to Temperance's house Saevio was going through his usual mix of scattered emotions. His focus was less on where he was going and more on what he was going to do when he got there. Staying awake all night had never been good for his emotional well being, but again he missed that note. He was feeling anxious, scared, tired, and stupid. The feelings grew stronger as he got closer to the house.
Barely able to figure out the door handle, he opened the door with his eyes to the floor. Saevio was so caught up in himself that he did not notice that he couldn't feel her presence. He stated her name as he entered and closed the door behind him. There was no answer. With the closed door to his back he looked up. His eyes scanned the open room from left to right. No Temperance.
His heart seemingly stopped for a second. His feelings subsided and he realized that he didn't feel her. Scanning the room again, this time from right to left, his eyebrows contorted. Instantly as his emotions hit him again. The fear and the anxiety were back, but this time no fatigue. Unsure what to do now, his breath deepened, his heartbeat raced, and his mind flooded.
Where?! Move! Help! Fix! Temperance! Yes! No! Vas Flam! Chair! Table...Wall! Chair! Temperance! Temper...Temperance...
He saw her hands raise to protect herself. He looked at the chair that he'd picked up and back to her. With a slam he put the chair on the floor and sat in it quickly. His hands balled into fists slammed down into his thighs and he looked at the floor.
She knelt in front of him. He knew she was looking at him. "Why did you come to my home?"
Still looking down, he tried to answer her. His mouth started moving but he couldn't sort it out. He made eye contact for just a second before becoming embarrassed and looking back to the floor. Again the frustration came back again because he knew she felt his embarrassment.
The frustration became anger until he was surprised when she put her hands on his face. One palm on either cheek. He stopped everything and looked her in the face. She asked again, "Why did you come to my home?".
Even though he was calmer he still couldn't speak. His mind was still racing but she was calming him she'd be listening when he was ready.
Help! Calm! Here! There! Move! Want! Replace...table. You help.
When he was finally ready, he answered her, "I want to move in." His voice was even and composed. It showed no hint of the chaos behind it, only the the effect of a day and night without sleep. |
