I have made an effort to capture video of EM events whenever I can. I would like to link viewers to a summary of the event, but it doesn't seem anyone is recording the history of Atlantic events at the moment. For example the EM event yesterday I recorded, but I arrived 30 minutes late. So people watching will have no idea what is going on.

Is anyone interested in writing summaries of the events they attend? I would like to see an archive of events that incorporate a summary, screenshots, video and back story on events. I could provide the video component if someone else could do the writing.

Also, EM Bennu sure had a situation on his hand when the majority of people at the even completely missed the reward giving crystal. I kept recording the entire situation in case someone started a thread saying Bennu did something wrong. It was an honest new EM mistake and I think he did a good job handling it.

I took about 80 screenshots at the event but I don't currently have the time to sort them or summarize the event.

Well JC, this is normally the type of thing I love to do. I was actually considering doing this, but I thought that Dryzzid was. I got a couple screenies, but I am more caught up with the storyline behind it, as usual. There wasn't much storyline before the event, more of the usual gimme gimme spam crowd.

Bennu thanked Tatiyana for helping him transcribe the gypsy woman's information, and then he told us he'd decided to open the cave and deal with the situation before it became worse. So we all made our way to the cave to put to rest the spider princesses and their brood.

I personally think Bennu is okay, just a little new. He couldn't help it that people were in such a rush they didn't stick around to hear him say "Everyone is going to get something." The name calling after the event, as well as the insults spoken by people that ran out of there too fast to get something the first time around, was uncalled for. Bennu was very nice to open the second gate and give them another chance, even after the mud was flung.

I just wrapped up the community center proposal (JC, if you haven't could you look that over and share your thoughts? We would appreciate your opinions. Thank you!), Merci and I are also working on a few initial projects for the Stratics Taverns & Tales section at the moment and I just put together the beginnings of the ARPC Community Events first event with Cuthbert. I wanted to summarize the event but I just haven't had time. Sad However, I attended all the events and once I get some free time I could summarize the entire arc if you would like that. If emailed, EM Bennu may or may not be able to provide some details about the arc as well.

I was a little harsh publically about the event on the Stratics board but I don't think EM Bennu is at fault for anything. Well, rather, if anything he could have made the reward distributor bigger. But I don't fault him and I wasn't harsh because of anything he did. A lot players at the event made me sick. I can't say anything about how they acted without using some foul language. They were awful. I just felt that yes, there were people new to EM events that deserved rewards, but screaming "*$@# EM BENNU!" and "WHERES MY REWARD EM BENNU!?" and "WE SHOULD GET WHAT WE DESERVE!!!".

Personally I am thankful that we even have EM events. Maybe its because I played during the dark days after the Seer program was ended and there were NO events. Even prior to that Seer events tended to be (in my experience) scattered and poorly advertised. The Seers worked with the RP community and sometimes you were lucky and stumbled on an event, or sometimes the Seer came into IRC and was like "EVENT NOW OMG", but generally there wasn't a lot of heads up on them. Anyways, I'm just very grateful that we have these live fiction events, and I literally can't stand how people act at EM events when items are involved.

Events go so much better when the item fury hasn't set in. Take, for example, the RP-only storytelling event prior to this last one. The group was small and pleasant. Why? Because there wasn't the feeling that there were going to be items handed out. And the group wasn't made up of only people from this RP community. There were many guilds there and people participated all the same and were very civil.

But every PvM event or any event where it is perceived or assumed that there will be an item drop, you get the shard crowd, the xshard crowd, and everyone else and their mothers showing up for one reason and one reason only: to get rich. And if they don't get rich, may the Virtues help us all, because the insults, whining, and crying begin.

Maybe I am just a bit different to feel this way. I am sure many casual players feel this way too. We want to enjoy the actual event and not have to hear kids cry about item drops. My ignore list went from literally 5 players to 40 players at the last event. EM Bennu was very good in the way he handled it in my opinion. I wasn't bitter about everyone getting the item, I was upset that the childishness, the insults, the crying.. were basically encouraged by allowing them to go back. Now those people will think "If I call EM Bennu a punk ass EM and tell him to go *$&$ himself, I will be rewarded!". Its a no-win situation for the EMs and its a sad sight to witness.

EMs should have the ability to squelch and jail players for disruptiveness. /end rant.

It is unfortunate that so many people not only attend events only for items, but are extremely rude about it. I know a few people who do this but they are all quite and let everyone enjoy the event.

You say the EM should be able to jail/squelch players. I believe they have this ability already but there are a few reasons it rarely happens. One of them being that the EM is usually playing a character in the event and running around. They can't roleplay, run the event and be the police at the same time. Another is how difficult it can be to pick out a troublemaker in the middle of a crowd. If they hit the wrong person then they have to go to the jail and release them. But they may not even know they hit an innocent person. I bet this has happened a couple times so they are reluctant to do it.

I think the way to make events less disruptive is in the hands of the developers. If they prevented x-sharding of event items, if they made it easier for EM's to squelch or implemented a sort of auto-squelch within 15 tiles of the EM, or some other idea it could be better.

Those are some great ideas. We should send those to the EMs. Also the EM is very young and this is his first time being an EM. People are going to try to take advantage of him. Hopefully we can stear the other EMs to help him for the first few events.

Bennu is great. He comes to RP events, had a mini quest for RPers only and makes things fun. I mean he read my profile and knew I was wearing a mask not a skull helm, that's immersion.
