Khaliq laid back on the thick quilted pad and pulled the thinnest of the blankets Samara had given him over himself. The wine made him warm, and he had consumed far more than he should have. Wine was a thing of opulance and as freely as they offered it, it would have been rude to refuse.

How did I come to be on that beach?

No wreckage. No wound to the head. The effects of exposre were fading quickly, so he had not been at sea long. Even his head had been freshly shaved, no more than a day or two.

His injuries were far less than he was willing to admit. He did not want his new friends to doubt him or his story...but he could hardly believe it himself. His words were truth, but even he would doubt them if he heard them from somone else.

In the end, it didn't matter. He did not attempt to decieve them, and they measured him by the manner of his heart and spiirit. Isk had made him a Jannisary of Magincia. A guardian.

He would serve, gladly. They had opened thier home and hearts to him. They were people of Order. Children of the Great Weave, and they fought the Servants of Chaos. His blade would be with thiers. His shield would guard them as it did himself.

As the candle dimmed, and he felt the warmth of sleep growing, he murmured his prayer, looking to begin this new life in earnest.

Great spirit of the Philisoph, whom I worship and adore! I bear witness unto thy purity and acknowledge thy gifts, both in the past and in the present. Thou art the all-bountiful, the overflowing showers of whose mercy have rained down upon high and low alike, and the splendors of whose grace have been shed over both the obedient and the rebellious.

Spirit of mercy, before whose door the quintessence of mercy hath bowed down, and round the sanctuary of whose cause loving-kindness, in its inmost spirit, hath circled, we beseech thee, entreating thine ancient grace, and seeking thy present wisdom, that thou mayest have mercy upon all who are the manifestations of thy purity of spirit and flesh, and deny the children of Chaos the bounty that is your sacred blood.

Thou, verily, art the All-Pure, the All-Subduing, the All-Powerful. In thy grace, we, the humble children of your most sacred line, pray for your blessing, your guidance and your might.
