Standing on the frozen stone steps of my Estate, my eyes wonder towards the path down the mountain. Not far off my Knights rest but I could find no peace of mind to rest. As a breeze picked up I wrap the cloak tightly around me to keep from freezing. Turning suddenly I enter my home and as I passed Christy I only utter, "Wine, please."
"At once my Lord." And she quickly hurried upstairs into the kitchen to fetch a bottle and glass. She returned a few moments later and set a glass of wine next to me.
"Thank you Christy" I say with a smile yet my eyes are fixed on a fire near my feet.
"Of course my Lord" She says with a quick nod and stands a short distance away.
"How long have our people been traveling?" I ask her as I motion for her to sit.
Thinking a moment she replies, "It must be over a year now Sire" as she takes a seat near me.
As I nod I respond, "We have found honorable people here. And at the dawn of our new path we find ourselves prepairing once again to ride into war."
A look of shock crossed her face, as she knew only rumors from other workers in the Estate. But she only replied with a simple nod.
"I have sworn my blade and the blades of our Knights to Stonegate. My word has always proven good and shall remain so. In a few days time I shall leave to join my new bretheran in combat. I draw a deep breath thinking on the days to come. "Yes, it has been long since I drew my blade upon the field of battle. But now we have just cause to do so once again. I do not know the enemy we now face but I shall ride with Stonegate reguardless."
"I shall pray for your safe return and the return of the others Sire." She says with a saddened voice.
A small smile appears upon me as I raise my gaze to meet hers. "Thank you Christy, please make the proper prepairations for my departure. We shall leave in two days time."
"Yes my Lord," she replaies as she quickly stands and leaves the room. A single tear falling to the ground. |

The fire crackles and flickers across the wall. The warmth moving off the walls and rolling across the young women laying on the rug on the floor her hands tucked beneath her head .
She slowly starts to awaken and she sits herself up as Malidian walks through the door letting in a burst of freezing air and she shutters. He walked quickly passed her mumbling about war and the things that are to come. He passed her a lot theses days. Her life long friend now looked like more of a stranger then a once loving embrace when she felt lonely and out of sorts.
She composed herself and walked to the door and grabbed one of Malidian's oversized cloacks and pulled it over her head and headed out around the City. There was much talk and whispers about the soon battle and sighed about the thought. She headed back toward Malidian's home since hers was not ready and only a few of her chest were delivered with all of Malidian's things.
She walked through the door of the house it was quiet again and she stormed to the bedroom where all the important chest were held and she slammed it open hoping he was in there, but yet again he was gone. She pulled a golden chest from under some sheets and opened it . She ran her fingers across the light leather that held her families crest on the chest and she sighed, "he will be upset my old friend but it is something I must do"She pulled it from the chest and headed to another room to store it. |

*Spots of blood followed my steed like a trail of bread crumbs leading to my Estate. My eyes lowered as I let my horse bring me home, my axe hung by its clasp and shield thrown upon my back. As I neared my house, I could hear faint gasps from those that served in my home. Slowly, Gannon, Dagonet, and I dismounted nearly falling to the ground as we did. Several workers ran forward to lend a hand. I could only utter a few words while the thought of defeat pounded within me.*
"Water... bandages..." I mutter almost silently.
"Yes Sire," Tristan responded and ran inside.
*The Knights and I slowly asended the steps and entered my room. Collasping into several chairs, and several of the workers helped us remove our blood stained armor. As they did this it exposed several wounds upon us. The worst of which was a deep gash on my left shoulder and another around my midsection.*
*Tristan returned and they quickly cleaned many of the wounds and wrapped them tightly. Their look upon us seemed to beg for us to explain our condition.*
"We have failed Stonegate..." I say as I look to the other Knights, "We were not victorious this eve and the villian whom was within our jail has been freed."
*They looked upon us with sorrow and worry.*
"Sire, what is to come?" Thallen asked.
My eyes slowly rose to met his, "We bring the fight to their very doors." |

She opened her rune book and re-sighted some words and appeared in front of the house as she closed the book see noticed spots of blood dotting the snow and then looked up at the loud noises coming from within the house. She moved quickly taking 2 stairs at a time and flung the door opened and rushed the stairwell pleading downstairs. As she turned to enter the hall his ran into Tristan and his face was paled and he looked rushed, he nodded to her toward the bedroom. She pushed passed him and pushed on the large bedroom door. She kicked at the door till it swung on its hinges. Most of the men stopped and stared as the door swung open and they laid eyes on the small framed figure.
She pulled off her hood, thousands of black curls flowed from the hood ands he moved toward the bed side tugging at her gloves with her teeth. "I am sorry I am late", she didn't make eye contact with him. She knelt at the bed side looking at the gash at his midsection. It was deep will need to be closed and taken care of. She wasn't sure what to do she sat there frozen do to the lack of relationship they had in the last few months. Then he spoke " then we bring it to there door steps" She grabbed his hand tight at his cold voice. |
