So here I am, covering my local area in blue. Giant Moonglow blue signs going up all over the place. Walking around in my blue suit, with my blue tie. 7 days away from a real election. I've got a handful of actual elected city council people helping me. My profession as a scribe making it all the easier to procure and produce the necessary items for a hopeful success. The polls manipulated by such factors as intrigue and the nuances of circumstance...
I cannot help but draw disturbing and wonderful parallels to what is happening in real life for me right now to the things I learned here, on Atlantic in UO.
Molly is here. So is Azalin. And Aleph. Richard, and Azrielle. I'm on radio all the time on opposite sides from Grishnak. There is an Isk, and a Darrien. Not really them, but so very much them as characters in the story.
My guys show up wearing their blue shirts and stand formation in an impressive line, passing out fliers, telling people to cast a vote for me. The Moonglow Broadcast System of comm crystals a fine network of robocalls and surgically targeted emails. The Virtues themselves pressed and strained with every candidate questionnaire that comes my way, guild management as volunteer management with almost precisely the same dynamics. At the end of the every grueling day in the campaign, finding myself completely out of mana.
For anyone who ever questions your dedication to UO, or the community within it, that says "It's just a game."... you tell them, no, it isn't. It really isn't just a game. _________________
