“Hey Am?” Husky and preoccupied Aaron stood in the doorway of the pantry wiping his oil laden hands on a rag. Looking up from interlacing the cloth in his fingers he gazed in the general direction of the storage closet. Bent at the knees and rummaging through one of the many crates that occupied the space, Amdiriel half heartedly turned, pivoting on the ball of her foot.

“Hm, Hir Aaron?” Mind deep in her own tasks she cut out a slice of attention for him and shifted her gaze up. The purple and red streaks of her hair swung as her eyes changed direction and Aaron let out a chuckle. Amdiriel was one of a kind. His girl with the elven name.

“I need to make a run to town for supplies. Did you need anything while I was out?” His eyes met hers then and he soft laugh turned into a deeper smile. Silently he thanked the powers that be for this woman. Her laughter set the air to music whenever she deemed to say his name, which was often. And the light in her eyes when she looked at him would stop a Boura from charging 100 paces back. And all of those things were before he could taste her cooking.

Amdiriel's cooking. To call it the best in Sosaria was an understatement and that alone would have Aaron drooling at her door on any given day. But that was not the end all be all to his girl. He'd felt bad when they had to turn back from Trinsic.

Wanting so much to introduce her to his family, to his father specifically, they had set out. But Jonathon Dell and his two brothers had taken off without notice for a fair in Britain. With no note, Aaron had checked with the nearest neighbors, some 3 miles away to find out what the hell had happened to his family. Annoyed and disappointed he had had to settle for her simply seeing his family home.

True to her grace and good nature, His Am had taken it in stride laughing and teasing as he told her story after story. He showed her the mill, the workshops, the farmland and the house. And with every breathe he took she lingered as if what he had to say was the most important thing in the world to her.

A week of stories and Am putting together scrumptious meal after delicious meal with the haphazard crap his Father kept in the cupboards and they had headed home. Just in time it seemed as that's when all hell broke loose at the camp just north of Luna.

She cocked her head to the side then as if mentally checking things off. "Sugar and vanilla. That is, if you want any more of those chocolates."

"Tell Chad to stay the hell outta my batch next time." The smile on his face eased the blow of the words but they both knew he was only half joking.
