“I am not a game. So if that is what you seek, look elsewhere.” Her full lips pressed tightly into a line. She had spent enough time with him to know that she was anything but that. Never-the-less she had breathed them aloud, giving voice to a concern in the back of her mind. She may be younger than he but her experience quickly trumped that.

She already knew that his own experiences had taught him that women could not be trusted, specifically drow. Her experiences had taught her that -no- drow could be trusted, man or woman. So between the two of them, they had a world of trepidation to consider.

“I believe we can assist each other.” His phrasing curled the corners of her mouth into a smile. For a Matron such as she, he was a good match. Passionate, steady, logical, calm and titled. And despite the fact that he had rescued her on their first meeting he knew her to be worth every bit of what she was, no damsel in distress.

Casually she turned round to face the fire, flames dancing in her red eyes. For that one moment they mimicked the burn of her soul. Content had never been a word she had taken lightly, but content was what she was striving for now. A home, a husband, a family. Everything denied her the day House Denai had claimed their sacrifice.

Soft and casual the voice behind her broke the temporary silence. “Come. Let us have a change of scenery.” Turning round she let the tight braid flip around and her eyes followed his form as he rose from the deep red benches. Without a moments hesitation she followed him out of the sitting room and down the stairs. Yes... they were many things... a game was not one of them.

Olath watched as she took her spot in front of the fire place, the flames painting a slight orange aura around her silhouette. Her posture hinted that she was doing something with her hands, but it was hard to determine from Olath’s position. He tilted his head slightly as he observed her movements. The slight crackles and pops from the fire place created a soothing ambiance, which only seemed to form more suspense in Olath’s mind. “She is more reserved than usual,” he thought. In his experience, such actions were only the prelude to news he found to be unsatisfactory. His eyes studied every feature, trying to determine some hint as to what she was thinking.

Her braid swayed slightly as she lifted her head, her gaze fixated on the mantle in front of her. His eyes lifted with her head and soon heard, “I am not a game. So if that is what you seek, look elsewhere.” The sentence was firm and yet a slight smile formed on Olath’s face. He softly responded, “We are not children and this is no game. You are a Matron looking for a family and I am a Prince seeking heirs. I believe we can assist each other.” His words were calm though his feelings for her ran much deeper than what his sentence could allude to.

He watched as she turned, the soft light now accenting her face and revealing a smile. Her braid swayed as she turned away again, looking to the fire. “Come, let us have a change of scenery.” A slight grin slid on to his lips as he stood and walked downstairs. He waited and held out his hand as a brilliant blue portal formed in front of them.

Her first foray into Sosaria had seen her running through Umbra. Equipped with not a bit of armor and two Gargoyles hot on her tail even her magic couldn't save her. Greyish wings beat against her skin as she held off the massive claws of one, while the other came within inches. Had it not been for Olath, that would have been the end. The thought of such a miniscule creature finishing what the Matron of House Denai could not, almost made her laugh. Almost.

There were no scars from that encounter and truth be told she slept soundly at night. With him beside her there was very little she felt she was incapable of doing. But then, he wouldn't be beside her much longer. He would be back in her homeland, back in the Underdark and no solid time frame on when he would return to her.

Slowly Char'dra walked up the stairs of the Manor House. She had yet to see the Great Drow Lord, though Olath talked of him often. And it seemed now, with the impending trip, she would not get to anytime soon. Ah well, she thought, eventually he would have to see her. Especially if she was to become one of them. One of the Morchiants. A smile curled her lip at that thought. Matron of House Teken'duis was to be Princess of the Drow.
