Hi folks,

Just wanted to let you know that I will be posting the backstory of Veneficus in the Gallery of Origins.

I will post in spurts, as I am writing this off the top of my head.

Hopefully it's at least interesting enough to use for a time-waster at work. Smile

There isn't much there, currently. It will probably take a few days for me to get the motivation to write and post all of it.

But I am glad to know that what little is there is being enjoyed so far!

Second to last post for Vens' backstory is up now. The final post is coming and will be relatively short, just tying up the loose ends.

I have to admit, I really have no artistic/writing ability what-so-ever, so I found this to be quite challenging. It's not quite as nicely written as I was hoping, but I hope that at the very least it has formed a coherent story so far. There are aspects of the story that are left unexplained, but that is purposeful. My aim was more to suggest that the place Veneficus came from was rich in magic in a shape and form that is very much different from that of Sosaria.

The best way, imo, to come up with a character is to just write, and let your mind lead the way. I've preplanned maybe 3 stories in my 8 years or so here. It's good to see someone else doing the same Smile

Yup, that's pretty much what I have done. I mean, I have general ideas, but really this is very stream-of-consciousness and clearly not very polished, haha. It does draw on magic-based elements outside of UO, but I was okay with doing that since this is just the backstory. It does make me wish I was a better writer in general, but oh well, that's not what I do for a living anyway so I guess it doesn't matter too much.

I'm glad to know people are at least taking a look at it. To be honest I think that I am writing a lot of it for myself, so that I know what my own story is and how I want to play Ven IG. Hopefully it's at least somewhat interesting to other people as well.

Veneficus, I have watched some very intense mage duels, I love them frankly as they are on the edge of your seat thrilling. I like to watch the back and forth constant throwing of spells to disrupt or harm ect. I love that you have captured that more eloquently of course in your writing.

As for not being an experienced writer, well neither am I, I just write from the heart, I write what interests me and it matters little if people read it or not it builds a story and background for my characters in my head. Which gives me the direction for me to play her in the game.
