Luna's brightness could not penetrate the dark quality and cast of the shadowy mountains this night. Plunged into an unnatural haze of dark the air crackled with anticipation.

It was time...A new daughter rose amongst her kin. The Clan waited to transition.

A large white wolf, Lifted his head and a note flew from its soft furred throat. Its white fur shown unnaturally in the darkness glowing but no where near as bright as its eyes as it looked across the valley from its mountainous ledge.

It was not long before many wolves, took up the song carrying it down blanketing the Kingdom of Stonegate.

Dark and wild within her Merci bit her lip, to quell the feelings the sound of thier howls evoked. Her body hummed with electricity and the air around her grew more chill.

And the Wolves cried:

Welcome oh blessed one.. welcome Newest Daughter of the Moon....

To Livvie's, Strength, Heart and Faith..the gift will be bestowed.

Livvie tugged at the robe. While not tight it constricted around her neck and left her feeling 20 pounds heavier than what she really was. Thankfully it wasn't going to be on long. The strapless gown beneath left her neck and her shoulders exposed to the elements and to the waiting bite that was just around the corner.

Having left Good-bye notes for various persons who mattered in her life, she stopped on the steps to Ebon's and glanced to the roof above. With a heaviness in her heart she jaunted up the steps and into his living room. She didn't know if he would read it before or after, but at least he would know how she felt. That question was soon answered as she let herself in and stood before him as he put the note back on the table. Quietly she took the seat on the couch next to him. For the first time Ebon looked tired and age seeped through. And for the first time Livvie wondered if she was causing him more stress instead of lessening it.

“You're existance will change. I will always be there with you.” His voice was quiet and calm but the current beneath was palpable.

“Promise me you won't leave?” Her hands began to shake now within his grasp and he did his best to steady them. Slowly the time ticked down and hand in hand they made their way to the roof of the Meadhall.

Living Well

Blackened soul,
As darkened night.
Hungering warmth,
Thirsting light.
Now, somethings changed,
or perhaps I sleep?
Dreaming dreams,
I've dreamed so deep.
Tasting water
From living well.
In my arms,
Oh Livvie Dell.

For hundreds of years, Ebon had searched for ways to end his cursed existence. Now, restrained to a bed in the upper parts of the mead hall, lay the one who had changed his outlook. A curse became a blessing.
He had not asked her to do this, but deep within his long-stopped heart, wanted nothing else.
As the bed trembled and shook, he knew at once it was feeding time. How many of Stonegate animals would parish before her appetite was satisfied? As he pulled back a nub which was once his index finger, he reckoned it would be many.

She recognized faces, voices. And in between bouts of excrutiating pain she knew he was there. Beyond the raw bits of meat, she tasted blood She had no clue when it happened or how, but the bitter salt lingered on her tongue and her eyes dilated. Instincts were on overdrive. The slightest noise or misspoken word and she was ready to snap a leg in half, or a neck, whichever was closer.

"For the love of Sosaria, walk slower." Ebon's voice broke the silence as he chastised one of the guardians for moving too quickly. Her eyes darted to his form and then to Mei, who had come in bringing more food. The Oracle and the Wolf King had been through earlier, she remembered that. Had she yelled at them? She couldn't remember what she'd said. The air was alive with new smells, new senses. Everything was ten times more THERE than it had eve been before. She pulled against the restraints, her fingers reaching.

Freedom... that's what she wanted most now... A howl escaped her lips making Ebon rouse from his sleeping posture beside her.

"OUT!!!" The word was a plea from her lips but all he could do was silently shake his head and wait for the panic to die within her once more. The pain in his eyes a carbon copy of the pain in hers.

The only reason time was paid any attention to was because it counted down until her release. Each time hunger took over Ebon would assist. And when the need to run, which was considerable, became too great he would slow his speech, avert his eyes and talk her down from the cliff she was on.

The one time he did not shy away from directly looking upon her was when her body had all but completed its transformation. Muscular arms, torso and legs were now covered in fur the color of the brightest red at morning. Her fingernails extended into claws and her deep green eyes shimmering in the light. Ebon stood his ground. If fear existed he hid it well. Hours passed and only when she had returned to as close to her normal state as she would ever be again, did he move.
