The massive wings beat against the frozen night air, the black transparent scales a perfect camouflage against the star lit abyss above. He came to the mountains to calm the reptilian bestial urges that drove deep within him, the lust for carnage that seemed to seep to the surface time and again. The cold calmed him ... settled him ... kept him sane.

Those large reptilian gold eyes scanned the snow covered mountain kingdom below, for days now since his introduction to the King and the Oracle he had been thinking, flying and thinking. And at last he has come to a conclusion - all that his shadow touched in passing he would protect. From peak to peak and those within the boundaries of the his kings land he would serve; he now shared an equal duty with many others.

Black talons lowered as he fell upon the small alcove he had built for himself, his own stone nest of sorts. Furling his wings in against the muscled neck as he stretched its length high releasing an echoing roar against the blowing snow that fell across the mountain ridge.

The soft popping of bones realigning themselves began to emit from him, his body shriveling in on itself until the man remained knelt upon the ground, the pain was still intense ... nearly a month has gone by and he had only just recently gained control of the changes.

Crawling his away across the ground he curled into a ball beside in the center of the nest he had made for himself; arms hugging tight to his shoulders and knees brought up to his chest. He would have to conquer this weakness to prove a worthy guardian and servant of his new king, this he realized all to well.

His golden brown eyes watched out the rib cage opening of the nest at the snow field and the sudden breeze of cold air rushed over his sweat damp body. A slight shudder over came him as he drifted into a deep sleep.

She had fled her home in a frenzy her hands hitting the ground and transforming, a full transformation and nothing less would do. The Oracle had lost her control, the events of the previous night to much for her to restrain the burning desire within her.. to run free..and wild.

Clothing tearing at the seam as joints and claws took over. Her fur, so white it almost took on a blue tinge she raced along the lands with claws extended. She was alive.

She stopped at the highest peak, lifting her head, and craning it up. A howl free of inhibition rose up in the sky. It was full, throaty and loud, and called out to those who knew how to listen. Soon other wolf cries rose up around her, birds scattered, and her heart swelled with the beauty and greatness of her homeland. She reveled in the frozen death that blanketed the ground and trees.

It was then she felt the approaching shadow, the great beating of wings and saw the dark object lit against the sky. Its shadow falling across her face, enveloping her in its wake..instinctively she did not cower, for this was her new brethren. For a moment her mind regained clarity, sanity, and she marveled as the wolf looked up staring at the dragon as it soared above her.

She was there with it.. her spirit she moved on the breeze, while snow began softly falling.

She awoke hours later, naked in the snow and stared at her human hands once more, the frenzy finally passing. Remembering little, she could still feel the imprint of the dragons shadow upon the lands.

The rain beat against the silken scales that covered those massive gold lamps for eyes. The leathery wings beat fiercely into the winds that buffeted against his bulk. The Dragon flew low his underbelly skidding against the edge of the quaking waves beneath in attempt to try and ride out the storm, the gale winds keeping him from gaining a safer air. What fortune brought him out into the open sea like this?

Was it his desire for freedom and peace; perhaps his desire to spread his wings and feel the wind wash over him like a bath? Or was it the search for sunken treasure that lined the ocean depths? Fate would say the later.

Lightning cracked over head sending thunder rumbling across the dark clouds above the ocean. The winds were picking up, and he could just see land on the horizon - Finally! He might find temporary solace from natures onslaught! Bolting his wings in a swift flap to hasten his way to shore, it would happen just as luck was finding him. The ocean itself seemed to raise before the mirage of land, a wave washing towards him. His neck strained upwards in another attempt to gain air. His wings beat against the currents that fought his bulk. And it seemed that he would make the tip of the wave that rushed at him. The mass of the water rushed up to greet the dragon, hitting the blunt of its force against his abdomen sending him backwards tumbling into the dark waters.

It was like a keg splintering against his scaly hide, the waters parting as he began to fight against the monsoon currents for air. The claws fighting the water his wings flapping helplessly. The waves continued to beat against him, tumbling him like a shadowy boulder towards the rocky slope of the land he had desperately sought.

The last sight he thought he would see was the rocky shore crashing against his face.

The moans escaped him as his arms pressed into the muddy earth. Face down in the muck, his black hair matted to his face. The air was stale, damp and seemed like he was breathing through a dirty backpack. Those reptilian eyes sought out his surroundings as he pulled himself out of the crevasse of water and rolled into a sitting position. The last thing he remembered was fighting the currents of the ocean, then he woke up as human in this dark cavern. He took the outline of his surroundings, and then immediately began patting down his person ... His equipment was most likely resting on the bottom of the ocean by now.

"Well isn't this perfect ... Try and get away for a night and Mother Nature decides to be a wench ..." Mumbling to himself, he came to a stand brushing off the leather hides he wore that were bound to his person. Those gold on black orbs adjusted to the darkness of the caves, his hands gripping the cavern walls, he tip toed his way through the underground praying to the Trammel moon he would find an exit soon ...

For three days he stumbled along the dark caverns, tripping over roots and rocks and nearly drowning in surprise pools of water that seemed to be ink black spots in the darkness.

Finding solace in the moist damp air, he would make small fires from flint and strips of cloth he tore from his clothing, but the fabric burnt fast and hot and left little to kindle.

Just when he thought he would go mad in the confining blackness, he felt the sensation he was not alone - of course it could have been the growing paranoia and phobic of some under ground giant worm coming to engulf him (after all some thing had to have burrowed this tunnels!).

The shadow clad image crept out of the darkness before him - part of him jumped out of its skin from fright; the other part spoke of lunch and the morsel this frail figure could become.

It was a quick introduction as Sin toyed with his sanity in the darkness, introducing him and half cajoling him for being in her land. Struggling to remain cordial Those golden eyes adjusted to take in the petite woman in a more clear perspective. After she lead the man in circles for what seemed forever in this underdark, she spoke of his kingdom, the lands of Stonegate, and the King that resided there. She whispered in his ear the secret to pass on to the king, and gave closer mysteries to the land he has come to call home. "The kings father would be wed".

He couldn't help but admire the lord for taking such a bride, having walked with this woman for a brief amount of time she had seemed quite kind compared to the rumors he has heard about the creatures that dwell in the caverns and tunnels beneath the world. As she brought him to a passage leading up the breath of fresh air that filled his lungs was paradise. He couldn't thank her enough for showing him through the maze of tunnels, and afterwards introducing the dragon to the bath house to wash the grime off.

He gave a pleasant parting grin to the gorgeous drow woman, and once he believed she had parted back into the darkness below he stepped out under the star lit sky, stretching his neck out and allowed the change to over take him; no longer was he cramped up, cooped into a tight crevasse in the arse of the earth. His bones cracked, his spine arched as the wings ripped outwards, his flesh over took the shadow black scales - he came to all fours and let out a dragons roar - the bulb of flame that shot from his nostrils flared harmless into the night air.

Those golden eyes took a final glimpse of the lands he had explored these past few days before he took a running flight - barring those wings into the air, he buffeted against the wind currents and made his way for the mainland.

Sinylene was all fun and games tricky and smart, to smart sometimes for her own good. She had gotten herself beaten many times for this. Perhaps it was the fact that she had spent years, enslaved that made her the more compassionate of the drow clan. She tried to hide it as she new her brethren would tear her apart for it.

She laughed and skipped, and lead the odd man on a merry chase thru the tunnels. First guiding him ffar away from the exit she knew existed. It was thankful Mairsil and Gorhun had shown her about these tunnels. Her bright drow eyes could peer thru any darkness, and she loved these caves for they were the most homey places on this island to her.

She always tried to keep her humor, to laugh in adversity it is frankly how she had survived these many years, she never sadness or defeat destroy her good humor. She was indeed a minx with brilliant white hair shocking against her ebony skin.

With mirth in her eyes and heart, she enjoyed introducing herself to the stranger his golden eyes widening.

I am Sin...

The only offsetting thing about the male was the way he looked at her at first. A flash of hunger as if she was a small morsel seemed to pass before his eyes, definitely not to be confused with lust. For a moment she forgot herself and froze to the spot like a small mouse before a cat but her hand shifted to her arrow and bolts and patted them lightly with intent. She would be okay she told herself she was well trained.

So she toyed with what she later found to be great danger hoping this didnt warrant her another beating. When the word Stonegate had fallen from his lips though she knew that she could not ignore it, the connection was undeniable. She couldnt resist. So in true drow fashion she demanded he pay a price for her guidance, he must take a specila message to his king and none other.

It was not long before they popped up into the harsh sun. She smiled leaving him to rest and perhaps bathe meandering away slowly she heard the door of the bathhouse open, curiousity claiming her she moved unseen behind a tree and there was a sight that she had least expected. Her eyes widened in shock as she hid behind a tree, Valeks joints popping and bending his muscles twisting and turning and the great maw of a dragon lashing out, two wings unfolding from seemingly no where.. Frightened and alarmed she slipped off as he took flight, and ran until her legs could run no more collapsing on the floor of the Viceroys office.

Well thats what you get Sin, for talking to strangers, she chastised herself.

The sky over Sosaria was peaceful, the waters calm, and at the altitude he flew his shadow looked that of a hawk upon the surface of the quaking waves below. Those golden eyes spied the small beach, like a thin white line of sand against a forest and just down from a large city. Swaying to the side the dragons wings stretched taught as he glided down to the land below. Thick white talons sinking into the muddy beach; A roar of triumph for himself if nothing more, pleased to have flew the distance of the islands back to the mainland. He kicked off the beach to fly low to the ground towards the town just across the forests edge.

The evening was growing late, and the streets were empty as the shade of a dragon flew down the streets of Britain. He mostly glided upon the low breeze that flew in from the ocean near by, his neck stretched long and his tail as a ballast steering him down the brick and cobblestone. Seeing a white bricked watch tower in at the edge of town he though this would be a great spot to land and rest for the night, curl up beneath the stars atop the tower in safety.

Those golden hourglass eyes looked upon the young woman that roamed the land around the tower, forcing his wings tight against his body as he landed before the base of the building, his serpentine tongue tasting the fear and intrigue of the air. The girl fled swiftly into the doors of the tower fear and uncertainty of a dragon in Britain would have scared even the queens guard if they had ventured across the beast.

The dragons body twitched from the inside, his bones cascading down and his body melting in on itself as Valek became man. All but those reptilian eyes that stared into the recess of the tower. With gloved hands he caught the still swaying door, pulling it open and stepping lightly into the small tower. Soft leather boots not making a sound as he stayed on the edge of shadows, making his way to the top of the tower where his instinct told him the girl had run.

Ascending the stairs to the parapet of the tower, he came across the minstrel. She was a sight to be hold, young, the ebony colored hair nearly matched his own, but a hint of madness shone in her eyes as she watched the man approach.

She spoke of warnings, and the dragon that chased her into the tower. To Valek this was a time of jest, he of course knew that he would never harm a human unless they had harmed him first. At least not intentionally. But he chided with the girl. Insisting that 'he' is harmless. It was not long through this talk she had come to realize this man that stood before her was the dragon. She accused him of being a demon, a dragon demon possessing the man - of all the things in the world.

Perhaps it was madness, or perhaps it was his cunning talk that got her to trust him, to get her down from the edge of the tower. He was swift but if she had jumped he would surly not be able to catch her from this distance before she hit head first on the ground below. It was a long evening of interesting conversation as she lead him to a tavern to talk, of how she had lived at the conservatory, and how he himself was learning about this new part of him. The young girl was nearly enchanting, beautiful and indeed enticing, but the dragon had a journey to complete, after the small snack in the bar that, as the young woman, Zendalla, had come to inform the dragon; was not 'human food' - he bid the minstrel farewell, and promised to seek her out again at a later date.

While sitting upon the bench before Zendalla, he allowed his body to meld into the shadows and darkness of the evening fading into the plane of shadows.

The soft music carried over the waves. Zendella thought of many things. She wondered if her brother was still hidden away working on his research. She wondered how her father had faired. It had not been long since Zendella had recieved word of her mothers death and in fact achingly it weighted upon her each day. She felt alone and lost. The conservatory had become her home and Zen had developed into a young woman her face fresh and sweet. Her hair and eyes dark and mysterious.

Sound... her life was filled with sound it was at her core. She had a gift for music, for creating, mimicking. She had devoted herself to it. Many of the students at the conservatory had mocked her, shunned her and avoided her. It was her namesake. She had been christened Zendella Smythe after Zendella Kxris, a notorious and infamous character in the history of Sosaria. She wore the name with pride caring little if it made people dislike her. It was her name and she would honor it.

Was it odd her parents had chosen to name her after such an outlaw. Some would say Insanity..

It was this day as sweet music filled the air that Zen looked up and saw above her the shadow of a dragon his wings wide his scaly golden eyes searching the land. In terror she flee'd into the tower behind her, scurrying up the stairs. Yet there was no safety here as the dragon was not just dragon, he was man too. His curiousity drove him to pursue the fleeing girl.

Her mouth open, her eyes dilated with fear... Zendella was so close to something this man could never imagine. His secret was revealed, but hers remained tightly in check.

Valek to most would be deemed a monster, and Zendella a normal girl. Yet it was always wise never to judge books by thier covers. A friendship forging quickly between this unlikely pair.
