The old Drow was taking time to get to know the new bartender at the Double Dagger Lounge early in the evening. The bartender was from the area, perhaps an old Sanctan militiaman. His granddaughter happened up the stairs, walking purposefully towards him.
"Father said I should ask you for help."
Alaundril's curiosity was peaked, "Oh? What do you need help with dear Viceroy?"
"He wants eyes on our enemies. Of course, that means I need a ship and a few extra hands."
Shri'rae looked at him as if wanting to say something else.
Alaundril had a thoughful look on his face, "We can commandeer a ship in the harbor, that won't be a hard task."
"Good. From there we can head to Serpent's Hold..."
The old assassin nodded and listened to the young drow woman outline her plan, intentions and destination. "Sounds like fun. It's been too long since I've gotten outside. There are a few things I must handle before we leave. I'll meet you at the den." He scooped up his cane and bid his granddaughter farewell, heading down the stairs to Mr. Narshan's study. Technically it was his day off, but he would make an exception in this case. He struck the door loudly with his cane.
"Mr. Narshan, I advise you not to keep me waiting..."
Alaundril smirked as the door opened, the gray bearded old man peered back.
"Tell the boys that it's feeding time, look for the snakes. They'll get it."
Mr. Narshan could barely speak a word and his superior was gone, down the stairs and on his way.
Night was in full darkness when Alaundril, Shri'rae and Olath were pulling out of harbor and heading south into the open sea. They were forced to borrow a ship from some local thugs who probably never owned the boat in the first place. Despite the ship's previous owners, it worked remarkably. The course was set and the sails were full with wind. The ship cut through the ocean swiftly it wouldn't take long for them to arrive on the shores of their sleeping enemy. |

Olath regarded her with cross between curiosity and amusement. He started to tell her that this was not a good idea. She closed her mouth, stopping mid sentence and looked at him. It was brief, it was clear and it was final. Alaundril was not to know.. not yet. Returning to the task at hand, within the hour they were all aboard the ship and headed for Serpents Hold. Coming into port they disembarked and headed for the outskirts of town. After all, if one wanted to start a bonfire you do it in the middle of the town, but if you wanted a small message, you take a subtle yet direct approach.
Humans. Tolerable, served their purpose, but really not valuable beyond information and torture. One by one they roamed the woods on the edges of the island. And one by one they were picked off by the group of three drow. It was incredibly easy really. "A knife." Grandfather's voice was low and calm. Quietly She handed one over and watched as he dismembered the body. Ribs, hands, ears, and entrails were scattered on the leaf covered ground. "Let's just see if they get the message."
Four additional bodies later, he bid her and her fiancee' Aluve and faded into the Serpents Hold Mist. _________________ *Kitrye Ilhar's Yathrin, Kitrye Ilharn's Mirshann, Jal degahr* |

The amount of blood a body could spill still amazed the old assassin. The four unfortunate innocents that had been cut apart by the little band of drow could barely be recognized. He actually found a bit of a amusement in the fact that he could probably put the bodies back together, all with different body parts than what they originally had.
That would be counter productive, the message is clear."
Alaundril watched from the shadows as his comrades disappeared as well, becoming part of the shadows of this quiet little island. He couldn't help but feel a bit of pride in how well they had performed. The corpses were another matter, he had taken care in making sure that their blood covered both the ground and the surrounding trees. Come morning, the area would be ripe with the stink of death. The carrion birds would no doubt dine on this stinking mess that the Drow had left. Before heading to the city proper to watch, he carved a large symbol into a tree, one that vaguely resembled the Vhaeraunite's.
Can't go giving it all away. There's no fun if all the answers lie before you. How can you play if you don't play? |
