Songbird,

As per your very subtle hint, I have recently brewed a very passable batch of summer ale and wondered if you wouldn't like to try some. I am, as I write, preparing to bring Christopher to Nujel'm to buy lemons to accompany the ale.

Of course, said ale is precious to me, and I would ask a simple favor in return. Whilst we drink and chat, I hope to have my cards read, and given our relationship, I know you are the one to read them.

If any of this sounds pleasing, send word.

Wednesday night perhaps?

Very Sincerely, Your Friend Always,
Arahim

Cezanne idly paced the warm hardwood floor of the theatre as she read the letter, then paused as she finished. A smile danced across her face, and she took the stairs to her chamber, airily skipping every third step until she found herself at her desk to pen a reply.

Arahim, Dear Hero,

My cards and I shall be aflutter with anticipation. I look forward to tasting your precious summer ale. Please allow Christopher to choose the lemons you bring. I am sending along a gift for him in return for his efforts.

In the meantime, please let your heart be light and take care to smile. I will see you on Wednesday evening.

Fondest Regards,
Cezanne

She folded the letter carefully into the shape of a pale yellow butterfly and took out a small brown paper box. Inside, she nestled a hand-carved wooden bluebird, then tied the box with string, finally fastening the yellow butterfly to the top with wax.

She left the gift and letter upon Arahim’s doorstep, then summoned the evening’s shadows to conceal her escape.
