More than the view of Magincia's beach was in question last night as they spoke. Calmer than the meeting the night before, she watched as a grin spread across his face. It occurred to her she just might take him up on the offer of an escort to the other side of the island.

Her last encounter had ended badly. Just out of sight of the basilica she had ventured up and over one of the small hills only to come face to face with a snarling, curling horned, very angry demon. Naturally with her magery not quite up to par she did what any warm blooded girl would do, she ran like all heck. She'd made it back to the basilica that evening no worse for wear but with the notion of where not to go firmly entrenched in her thoughts.

Early afternoon and not a soul in sight save for the three ships that so often occupied the water nearest the beach, Meegan grabbed her fishing pole and hopped aboard The Pride of Magincia. Sam wouldn't care if she sat there for the next three days. If she had a delivery she would work around her, or Meegan would get up to help. The friendship between the two was being forged easily, unhurried, not forced. It was just there. And just there meant that Meegan didn't have to do any work if she didn't want to.

Now, General Cuthbert on the other hand, that was going to be work. And a lot of it.

Cuthbert sat back in the chair in his office, legs up on his large shadow granite desk. It was an odd feeling he was having... not one he was used to, at least not recently.

Cuth shook his head as if he was arguing with his own thoughts. Meegan was young. Exactly how young Cuth wasn't sure, but she seemed to be around the same age as Samara, which would put her in her mid to late 20s. Just over the 40 year mark, Cuthbert was likely a decade or more her elder. Yet there was something about her that struck him. She had a fire to her that he enjoyed. Just what level he enjoyed it on was what he was wrestling with now. Did it matter? No, probably not. Unless it influenced the way he handled her. He thought back on their interactions so far. She was an absolute brat at their last Guild Meeting. Putting her feet up on the chairs, childish attitude, speaking out of turn - and rudely at that. But their interaction on the beach had been much more pleasant. And the way she constantly shifted her weight and put her hip out certainly had a way a catching his attention.

Enough, enough already! Cuth thought to himself A passing fancy, and one best ignored. Women were never your forte... at least not ones that you didn't have to pay for... He laughed at this last thought as his mind flashed back to his first experience in the brothels of Britain. Proving his manhood. That seemed ages ago.

It WAS ages ago, old man! Cuth chided himself.

"Hey, I'm not THAT old" he said out loud. A servant passing by his office poked his head in "Beggin' your pardon, General. Did you say something?"

"No no, nothing." Cuthbert waved off the servant, who bowed slightly and continued down the hall.

Cuth turned and looked out the window at the falling snow on Dagger Isle. It was peaceful and he grinned as he watched a polar bear off in the distance.

Things were the same as they had ever been. Meegan would make them no different.
