Glossy red eyes from lack of sleep stared out the window into the frozen North Malas landscape. The night had been an arduous one for the young man, an emotional barrage he was not prepared for. Items lay scattered about on the bed behind him. There were several black daggers with inscriptions on them, a ring, a tattered sash, and a spellbook. All items he had with him when he was found on the verge of death, all links to his forgotten past.

At least it had been.

It had been nearly a day since Lexi had found him and brought him to Stonegate. In that time what she had told him, combined with these links to the past had triggered a resurgence of his memories.

His family, his friends, his purpose. All the things that made him who he was.

Hour by hour, Vians memories had slowly returned. With each one he could feel the chains of duty tighten. The freedom he had known for these last several months slipped away little by little, until there was nothing left.

His whole life he had dreamed of the day he could become a Knight of Sanctus, to fight against evil and oppression. As the disappointment of losing that freedom tugged at him the young Prince wondered to himself.

"Were those really my dreams? Or was I groomed for this my whole life?"

The young man turned and slowly gathered the items on the bed. Once gathered he slung his pack over his shoulder, placed a note on the pillow, and made his way to the door. He paused, closed his eyes, and took a deep breath before passing through the doorway.

Then Prince Vian Skyfire returned to Sanctus.
