On horseback, a young boy reluctantly strides full speed in the direction of Charnell Hill. As he nears the steps fear overtakes him and his horse throws him off and breaks in the opposite direction. After recovering from his fall, he gathers himself and slowly ascends the steps to the door.
Eyeing everything around him, with the eerie feeling that he was being watched, he slowly placed a letter on the threshold of the door and left....Slowly descending, then breaking in to a full sprint back in the direction he came from, constantly looking back over his shoulder. As he was just creating breathing room between the damned cemetary, he looked forward just in time to crash head on in to a reaper, falling to the ground unconscious....Unphased by the crash, the reaper went back to sleep and out of the shadows, several ghouls stepped out to feast on their new friend......
THe letter back at the steps reads:
The Seekers,
Or should I say 'finders'? I awoke late last night from violent dreams about The Skull. I felt a twinge that I hadn't felt in ages, since last I looked on the Skull. I, as well as countless others, had perceived your mission to be a bearen one, so as shot up from these dreams, you can understand why I didn't believe. I quickly headed out, first to Sanctus, where I saw other Seekers spreading the word of what I already knew was true......
I think it's time I met with you

The lich lord's shriek of a cackle echoed against the crumbling walls of the crypt beneath Charnel Hill, amused by the letter.
"As expected, the realm has awakened at the return of Oblivion. Some flock to us out of fear, others ready their swords." Admoreth hissed as he laughed. He turned to the northern wall of the crypt and stretched both of his arms outward. The air seperated into a whirling black vortex, from which three wraiths emerged. "The three of you are to deliver this message to the one named Bailos, his affiliations... were left unsaid. Find him."
Bailos,
You are arrogant to believe you deserve an audience with our fine order. Yes, our order. The Order of the Ebon Skull is reborn in the age of Admoreth Nazduin. However, you will be given one chance for redemption. You are permitted to venture into our city of Umbra, bringing no more than two companions with you, should you belong to an organization. If you belong to no organization, come alone. You are obviously brave enough to do so if you seek our audience without aid.
Exhalted in the glories of Oblivion,
Admoreth Nazduin |
