Quickly and carefully Soren, parchment in hand, bent over the anvil in her workshop on the outskirts of Umbra Proper. So many of those Drow people. Every great now and then she had seen the two before, Drayden and the Matron. She hadn't seen hide or hair of The Matron in a long time. But, Drayden's resurface brought a smile to her face. A smile that was quenched shortly after because of memories of a sacrifice. Green tinged Soren's skin and without warning her precious anvil was covered in vomit. Pulling a rag from one of the chests she tried her best to clean it off and grabbed for a new piece of parchment.
"Dear Lady Merrique, Gypsy type person:
I had a visit from Drayden of the Drow last night. He came with Felyn who lives with the furry type people. They were followed by two more Drow. Mr. Gorhun, the drow lord and Mr. Olath who I want to say looks at me like I would make a good meal. I'm not really sure I understand but, Mr. Gorhun said not to worry about it. So I won't. I will instead pass along their message. Mr. Gorhun is now in charge of Eco... econ... TRADE, in Umbra. He wishes to speak with you regarding this.
Fellow Gypsy,
Soren Bishop now not Calestra"
Folding the parchment, Soren grabbed a customary piece of leather and tied it around Stormy's Antenna. "To Merrique!" Soren returned to wiping the vomit off of her anivl as Stormy proceeded into Umbra Proper. |

It surprised Merrique to hear the trundling beetle arrive at the Ilshenar camp. Beside her lay her sister, still lost somewhere in the void between life and death. She removed the parchment from Stormy, and proceeded to read it several times, trying to see what was said but not written. She penned a hasty reply and affixed the parchment to the antennae, then slipped a small bit of dried meat to the beast as a reward for its efforts.
Soren Bishop not Calestra,
Do not worry yourself with the Drow fellows regarding meals nor trade.
I shall in due time seek his company or correspondence.
Things remain much the same as they were. When I am able to get to Umbra I will try to find you. I've not really spent time with you since your marriage and it is always nice to see a friendly face. There are too few in these times, it seems.
Fondly,
Merrique _________________

It's always as dark as you thought it was.
And you don't have to work at staying there.
All you have to do is survive it.
And I've been doing that forever.
