Rufus slowly pushed open the doors of his sandstone house in the forest of Trinsic. The loud sounds of the forest were usually a bother, but this evening he seemed to overlook the almost explosive arrangement of sounds. As he made his way through the doorway, he started to remove his cloak as he approached the teleportation tile leading to his office. In an instant, Rufus was standing on his dark balcony. He tossed his cloak across a chair and walked through the archway. He took in a deep loud breath and slowly sat at his large stone desk. Stroking his beard for a moment, he folded rested his arms along the tables edge as his mind began to wander. After staring blankly for a short while, he opened his journal sitting neatly in the corner of the table, and began to scribble.
My conversation with Bleys proved to be most interesting. It has been some time since I have been referred to as Sultan. And I think it is a title I can get used to again all to easily. Though I wish it not to seem to be my only concern for returning. I do indeed love my people. For Nujel'm is the place of my birth, and upon my growth as a man, I did return there. To protect it, not to rule. It is only like me coming home from a long sabbatical. I must admit though, the most pressing issue seems to be the location of my friend Tai Kwan Leap. After my excursion with the Maritime Union, and our confrontation with the Drow, I knew it to be all too important to find where Tai would be. In all fairness, Tai has always stood against those who were in his way, and usually with good reason.
I feel that is what is missing. Though, his son Bleys seems very qualified and I can see much of his teachings come from his father, I still do have the utmost concern for my friend. With finding him, I know that Nujel'm can return to the glory it deserves...
Rufus stopped for a moment, stroking his beard, leaning back in his chair. He closed his eyes, allowing golden streams of energy to play about in his head. He opened his eyes and grinned, brushing his hand against the crescent shaped marking on his face. He leaned forward to his notebook, chewing on his lip.
I have come to terms with the duality of my spirit. There are many things that precede my own needs. I will make sure that my friend is found. Tomorrow, I am to visit the precinct for a bit of questioning. I hope that it leads me in the right direction.
Rufus closed his book, folding his hands in his lap. "I've also recieved no word from Umbra concerning the well..." There is much to do tomorrow...much to do. _________________ "Balance - the harmony between the Principles of Order and Chaos...Harmony, Dedication and Rationality, the three Principles of Balance, are our highest ideals." |
