Livvie stuck her tongue unceremoniously out of her mouth and off to the side. An act she was prone to when in serious thought. She was covered head to toe with flour. Off to the side, laying on the hardwood table were a quill and six pieces of parchment. Two of those pieces were her Alchemy homework, two were the list of needed items for the feast and two were scrap in case she didn't like what was on the other four. And all of them, like her, were covered in flour to the point of being barely legible.

"Snake, ant lion, cookies, pizza, bread, cheese wheels, ale, whiskey..." Right down the list Livvie named off what was to be prepared for the ritual feast. In addition there would need to be extra items for periodic times during the week. "What am I missing," she whispered under her breath. Rubbing her hands on her skirt she picked up the lists and flipped through them.

Receipe for Ant Lion
4 pounds Ant Lion (with skin)
2 reams spider silk
6 strands garlic
1 sack of sugar
1/2 gallon water
10 sprigs of mint
4 cups egg yolk
Sage and rosemary (for marinade)

Step 1: Mix sage, egg yolk, 1/2 gallon water and garlic and mix for marinade. Take Ant Lion and baste with marinade. Let sit for 24 hours in a cool area.
Step 2: Take Ant Lion out of cool area and sprinkle sugar and mint over it.
Step 3: Wrap Ant Lion in Spider silk and place in baking skillet
Step 4: Periodically take skillet out and turn for a nice even bake.
Step 5: When Ant Lion is no longer deep pink take out and serve

"I need to ask Korin if he can get me some Ant lion tonight." Livvie mumbled into the air and went back to the list.

Plate after plate of Ant Lion, Great Wyrm, Sushi and Chicken had been passed out in the Meadhall. The skillets and the rolling pins had been moving at great speed all day in preparation for this moment. Livvie waited nervously with each and every order for a comment or a smile. This was her first real test as The Cook of Stonegate Valley. Tonight was a sink or swim and she treading water as best she could. Immediately satisfied comments and smiles followed the dinner plates and Livvie began to breathe a little easier.

Korin had regalled the crowd with the previous nights story, emphasis on the part of Livvie hitting the Energy Vortex and everyone had seemed to enjoy it. Between the compliments on the hunt and the compliments on the food, her confidence began to slowly build. She really wasn't sure she could ever get to cocky status, but she could definitely get to self-assured in this warm and inviting atmosphere.

Turning, she listened as Ebon's deep voice filled the hall, effectively stopping the chit chat and banter. Booming, the sound reverberated off the walls. Just as one of the notes began to trail off into the night The Wolf King announced it was time for the drunken brawl. Livvie had almost had a heart attack earlier when Merci had announced it was going to take place. Her thoughts on her newly redecorated Meadhall her temper had begun to get the better of her. That was, of course, until Merci assured her it would take place on the roof and not in her dining room.

Once everyone had adjourned to the roof, Livvie picked up the plates and put them in her wash basin for later. Once her cleanup had been complete she followed the remaining stragglers to the roof. Perching herself at the top of the bleachers next to Ebon, Livvie listened as the rules were explained and laughed when a frying pan was tossed out as a brawling weapon. It was turning out to be a swim night instead of a sinker.
