Peck…peck, peck…peck, peck, peck, peck…

Adrian stirred in the faint glow of morning and opened his eyes. It took him a moment to remember where he was, and what had awakened him.

PECK, PECK, PECK!!

“Pigeon on my head…” he mumbled as Pidgy grabbed Adrian’s ear in his beak and tugged with all his might, fapping Adrian across the forehead with one wing.

“Hmm?” came a soft reply from behind him.

“Pigeon on…my…” he trailed off, eyes suddenly open wide. He forgot about the flapping feathered hat bent on attacking him as something stirred in the bed behind him and a soft arm snaked over his side and across his chest to hold him.

Then memories of the night before washed over him like the morning tide. Soren, so beautiful in her white dress and the circlet he had woven for her of dried flowers. The cakes…THAT COOK!...The wedding, and Ostara offering…That one gent who was so afraid he’d missed the cake. That…COOK

“You’re thinking too hard again.” Soren giggled and whispered sleepily against the back of his tensed shoulder as she shooed the pigeon off his head. Pidgy fluttered and roosted in a crook of the candelabra which had burned out hours before they, themselves, had. He blushed at the thought and brought Soren’s hand to his lips, kissing first the back of her hand, and then the ring she wore.

“My Sparrow...” Adrian smiled, wondering when was the last time Soren had slept in past sunrise.

“My Adrian .” Soren replied as she pressed warmly against him and pulled the blankets up around them both. Bathed in the first rays of sunlight through the stained glass window, they drifted off to sleep again.
