The tumultuous noise coming from around the bend ahead made Haydn pause in her trek through the mountains of her brother Myrddin's kingdom of Stonegate. A pack of wolves, in a great hurry, came charging her way. Quickly, she jumped aside to avoid collision. Breathing hard at the near crash, she stood with her three tails swishing in the snow.

Where could they be going in such a hurry?

Curiosity unabated, she turned tail and charged off after them, intent on catching some bit of news. She wondered if there was some emergency. Had something foul befallen her older brother? She vowed to find out. As the pack continued to run, she ran with them. She listened to their growling wolf-speak with her own kitsune ears, catching bits and pieces in their manner of communication.

Invitations. For the WIT children. But not for her.

She stopped short in her tracks, accidentally causing one of the slower wolves to smack into her from behind. It picked itself up and shook off, younger by the looks of it, before heading on its way.

She lay there in the snow, lost in thought. Had she been forgotten? But she was a WIT graduate. Was she now unwanted? Ever since Morio's disappearance, she had been wondering where she fit into the world. Was there a place for a lone kitsune? Her father was gone. Her mate was gone. Her children were... gone.

She laid her vulpine head down in the snow and gave over to deep contemplation.

"Did you truly expect them to act otherwise?" As Haydn lifted her head, startled by the sound of her younger sister's voice, Kale continued. "They took what they wanted and left. They took who they wanted..."

Kale gazed down contemptuously at her older sister lying in the snow. So pathetic. She continued to lie there, a puddle of confusion and uncertainty, as Kale took a seat on a rock nearby. She carefully arranged her skirts about her before continuing.

"Why waste your time on these fleabags, anyway? They're off doing everything they condemned Sanctus for doing. You should come with me, back to Umbra. Where we belong."

Haydn's three tails swished in unison back and forth as she considered. After several moments, she finally spoke.

"Are we even welcome in Umbra?"

"Of course we're welcome there. And aren't you the lucky one, you have two "ins". Mother is there."

After several moments Haydn arose, resigned to a decision.

"Alright, I'll go back with you. But I just want to watch for a while to see how things are."

Kale looked down the mountain pass as if she was in thought, her face hiding a smile. Her sister remained naive. Standing, she shook her skirts out and headed off down the path toward Luna and a convenient moongate.

"Well, let's go then. Mustn't keep the Lich Lord waiting."
