Livvie Dell paced from one end of the snow encrusted valley to the other. She had stopped in to speak to Ciara in regards to the apprentice position to which she was being assigned. Ciara seemed nice enough. She was friendly, outgoing, and genuinely interested in taking her on in the position. Livvie felt sure she would learn quite a bit from the white haired girl in the red dress. She shared Livvie's sense of humor. So when Korin d'Rue showed up and Livvie felt the sparks fly, she politely excused herself citing the need to see a wolf about a snake. Ciara had chuckled, fully understanding her meaning and watched as she headed back out into the snow.
As a rule, Livvie wasn't especially fond of the cold. Thankfully she would be spending most of her time next to either the cookstove or the alchemy burners. So either way she was sure to keep warm. At somepoint this week, between the two of those items, she also needed to make time to study Foxglove. Her first task as an apprentice. Livvie hadn't had tasks since she was first learning to cook. Dazedly her mind drifted back to the little cabin and her first attempt at eggs.
Jonathon Dell stood off to the side of the wood stove watching as siz year old Livvie nervously put her brand new cast iron skillet into the fire with a set of two cracked eggs. "Easy now. It's all about not letting them get too hot."Too hot, how do you keep them from not getting that way? It was a fire, wasn't it supposed to get hot? Those were the thoughts that raced through Livvies mind as she gently stuck the skillet above the flames.
"Yes, Daddy." Sticking her tongue out of the side of her mouth in concentration Livvie listened as her Father coached and whispered directions to her. A smile of pride and exhaustion swept across her face a few miunutes later when the eggs had crinkled and shriveled to a tannish off white within the pan. If it wasn't for fear of dropping her first ever creation, she would have run and hugged him tightly.
Years later, back in Stonegate Valley, Livvie walked from meadhall to guildhall and back. |

Ciara stared at where Livvie left, and gave a very impish grin. Definitely a sweety but had a lot to learn. There were so many poisons to learn, so many cures, plus finding new ones daily. Added onto that, there was more to alchemy than just poisons and bombs. The little living doll was going to be learning a lot of Ciara had any say. However, to start, she gave her the easiest one, foxglove. Though, she wasn't sure if the child had enough fortitude to really study. She tried to make it a bit more complex, having her look up not just the poison, but what was poisonous and how, the medicinal affects, and the cures. A lot of studying was ahead for the girl, but it'd pay off. Turning back, her eyes smiled as they laid upon Korin as she gave him a simple hug hello. |
