Ben was excited when he received a summons from the Magus Izrem to learn of a couple rituals. He along with another thrall, Azuroch, were first taken outside of Moonglow and instructed to gather a few resources for the Pyre Ritual. The hides and meat of animals and kindling from the trees were gathered and then were placed ceremoniously in stacks, hides on the bottom then the meat and kindling on top. As the thralls prepared their Pyres, the Magus explained that the Order ravaged the land, and that the life of those slain had no meaning before, but now they will give us power through their sacrifice to Oblivion. Ben could feel the energy of the ritual, on several occasions he had felt as if he had been removed from the material world. He became overwhelmed whilst meditating on what he had just witnessed. He regained his grip on reality just as the Magus was finishing the other thralls ritual. Upon completion of the rituals, the Magus continued to explain aspects of the ritual. Azuroch, the other thrall, was quite inquisitive, which led to an even better understanding of what he had just experienced.
They were then instructed to hire someone from town to escort us back to Charnel Hill for the Ritual of Blood. Ben searched the island for a suitable escort until finding a rather homely women who had been working on a fishing boat. The three escorts were then taken to the top of the building and magically bound to a stone in the center of the ceremonial location. This ceremony had a similar affect on Ben at one point, he had felt removed once more. Ben enjoyed the looks of horror on their face, as they accepted their fate. There is always that look of understanding on a victims face right before death.
The thrall had much to consider, much to learn. He looked forward to his future within the Order and knew the path he should follow would become apparent shortly. |
