*The letter has the vague smell of Utopia for those familiar to the drug. It arrives in the capitals and guild houses of the dark aligned*

The Lich Lord Darrien Church the Ominpotent, divine will of Oblivion Incarnate
Speaks:

Leadership of the Maritime Union,

It it with the upmost arrogance and tone of blatant disrespect you listed dare write to the Lich Lord of the Ebon Skull and Their domain proper, Southern Malas and it's holdings. We are not a people devoid of honour, nor are we a people without a sense of propriety in matters of war. You claim a banner of neutrality, for no other reason, to feed your own greed as failed despots and profiteers off the current and coming wars between Our people and Our foes. You would seek to give to one side with your left hand and to the other with the right, grasping our own treasures as payment close to your bosom. You seek to play both sides of the chess board, and we are not amused.

Neutrality indeed...

Among you we find names of those whom, without our stalwart guiding hand, under the guise of Adrien Garnier allowed the very base of their power and control on the known world crumble and decay under the weight of your own political ineptness & the wanton apathetic banality that are your lives.

Among you, Isk of Magincia who owes the Lich Lord personally so much for debts unpaid, both in regards to the armour his heart once so pained for and his securing of the Protectorate's Highest Position.

Ellesbeth who's very banner bears the word "Virtue"...now signs your parchment claiming perfect neutrality.

Tai, who has come to our lands on numerous occasions to seek to arrest or harass those whom are entrusted to our care.

Thrax...mewing little sycophant who dares come before Our Throne to spew words of friendship and devotion under cover of darkness so that he, unable to render to his own God any fitting offering may receive the bounty of both Light & Dark.

Each of your careers, time and time again marked by failure and intrigue most rank.

Southern Malas, Umbra, The Order of the Ebon Skull and all people who reside in their holdings are largely self-sufficient, we have no need or desire to enter into any contract with profiteers and pirates nor goods from Trammel. Furthermore, the economics of our regions are maintained entirely by the Ebon Skull and the Drow Matron, the slightest hint of involvement by your band of pirates will result in our displeasure and the quick and untimely end of your Union.

Should any who have transfixed their name upon the document we now gaze upon be seen in our domain, they will, assuming to be engaging in illegal economic activity & for Our own pleasure for this absurd request be slain, most efficiently for crimes against the people of Southern Malas.

Were it not for other matters at hand, We would have a company of Death Knights dispatched to deliver this to each of you, in the crumbling effigies to your own former glory you call palaces, keeps and estates. Hypocrites, cowards, profiteers...a plague on your houses.

All Hail the Lich Lord.
All Hail the Ebon Skull.
All Hail The Ebon Council
May Umbra Prosper Eternal Under Their Sacred & Entropic Gaze.
Etheng!

The governor saw this waiting on the door of the Temple in their compound. After taking a moment to read this notice he looked around the area, taking note of any tracks in the area. He folded it and slipped it away into his black robe then made his way off to find his Matron. Quaint. Trammel folk never seemed to amaze him lately. They were so interested in what was going on here. Perhaps next time they should come in person, rather than leaving little letters....

The messenger arrives in Umbra and is brought to the Palace of the High Warden, Dealthagar, Herald of Oblivion. As he reads the missive, Dealthagar's eyes dart from the paper to the messenger. "I imagine you were foolish enough to take one of these to Charnel Hill as well?"

Swallowing audibly, the messenger nodded. "Yessir."

"Vas Flam." A burst of fire issues from Dealthagar's hand and the missive disapears. "I imagine Lord Church will give you an answer well enough...but do your leaders even use thier addled brains? The leadership and militia of Nujel'm are under threat of death to keep out of Southern Malas. Isk has openly mocked and insulted the Order for so long I am certain it will be easy enough to find two or three orders for his Death, dating back to the reign of Azalin." Dealthagar leaned back in the chair, closed his eyes and pinched the brigde of his nose. "Run."

"What?"

The Herald opened his eyes and sat forward. "Run for the moongate and never look back. If you don't, you'll not leave this city aive."

Drayden finally had the time to pen a proper reply to this..."Maritime Union". He did so and had it sent to a neutral location by one of the House slaves.

To the leadership of The Maritime Union:

When I found your letter and saw the names, I half expected this to be some hair brained warrant of arrest. The First House of Shinuago Charnaggen has no need for any other profit seeking intruders. We've had our own fair share of that and I assure you that your invitation, although reasonable, is not wanted, needed or necessary. The Glorious Matron Kal'iksix has deemed that if we seek to open trade routes with Trammel, it will be on our terms. Not yours or any other. Considering the past, the names that signed your request are no friends of our House or Umbra. In fact, these people, Tai Kwan Leap included have offered nothing but strife and frustration for us. The lies that the one known as Tai Kwan Leap has spread about our Matron and myself are still fresh in our minds. We don't forget those who betray our trust and come to our lands uninvited. I find it amusing that Lord Isk. A self proclaimed Humanist would come to us "inkies" and dare try and establish some sort of trade agreement. Why should our esteemed House even waste our time with betrayers and Humanists?

Our answer is far more simple than your lengthy request. No. Feel free to trade across the seas of Trammel, your goods are wanted there. In Umbra we have no desire for anything Trammel would have to offer, aside from the physical head of one of your leadership. We won't. It's that simple. Consider this a polite warning. If any of your people are found pasting their little letters to our buildings they will be detained, questioned and beaten. You organization is untested as you have said. My suggestion to you is that if you wish to maintain that status, that you refrain from entering our city, or Umbra. Keep your stationary off our walls and exercise more respect and courtesy if you have a need for correspondence. Plastering the buildings in Umbra and Shinuago Charnaggen are not the proper means to handle such delicate matters with people that are your enemy.

Consider yourself warned.

Regards,
Governor Drayden Calamyr
Ilharn
