As I am heading into hour two of my turtle tank cleaning, I am left to ponder a few things about life and pets. First of all, if you (or anyone else you know) ever says, "hey, I really want to get aquatic turtles," you should smack them... hard. These are the worse smelling pets I have ever cared for, and I really don't think I was properly educated on how much time/effort was necessary in their maintenance. I have a 20 gallon tank for my two stinkies, and it needs constant attention with cleaning. Anyone have any experience with these types of pets? They are red-eared sliders and are young adults (size of a side plate). I know I am doing a lot of these ineffectively, so I could use any advice on how to clean the tank...drain it...anything! *sighs and takes a deep breath...then gags*
*eyes his turtles with clear annoyance* _________________ "Detached reflection cannot be demanded in the presence of an uplifted knife."

I'm a little disappointed, I thought this was gonna be about ninja turtles
Haaaa.... but yeah.. I had a red eared slider growing up. You know the trick with the hose and the bucket? I don't remember Raphael being stinky, but he swam solo, so Idfk. _________________ Butter Hawtness

I got a (dunno how to spell this...) syphening device that was ultimately a waste of $40. I had the little wee turtles when I was a kid too, but they are hard to find anymore since they are mostly illegal to own. *grumble grumble* _________________ "Detached reflection cannot be demanded in the presence of an uplifted knife."

Red-earred sliders???? We have them at the local pet shop.
Yes, the siphon is what I was referring to, why was it a waste of money? _________________ Butter Hawtness

The way in which you trigger the siphoning process is just impossible with this tank and the feeder tube is bent so it probably wouldn't work even if I could start the process. Yeah, that pet store isn't suppose to be selling them if they are under a certain size, which sucks because if I had two wee turtles, I would not be overburdened... _________________ "Detached reflection cannot be demanded in the presence of an uplifted knife."

Barf. Mouth full? Sad.
I actually was lucky enough to have a raccoon pup crawl all over meh. They remind me of cats. Without the attitude. _________________ "Detached reflection cannot be demanded in the presence of an uplifted knife."

<3 Raccoons. One of my fave animal. We had 3 for pets when I was a baby. Parents took them in when the mother raccoon died. One even slept with me in my crib a lot. We have pictures of it, I might dig it up and upload : )
