Dawn was still hours away. A mist had settled softly over the camp giving a haze that drifted lazily around the fire and the cauldron atop it. Inhaling the sweet scent of burning wood, Soren closed her eyes and sighed wistfully. Long discussions of allies, battles, enemies, and vampires had been hashed on the four logs around the cauldron. What Soren loved best was that no matter what, there was laughter. Somehow even in the darkest of circumstances, Arahim, Adrian and she had found a way to laugh. It was that very trait that would keep them all together..would keep all the gypsies together. At the end of the day when bandages were needed, food and drink there was humor. There was talk and there was family. If ever there was a group of people who could find the sunshine through the rain and still appreciate the moisture for what it was, it was the Gypsies.
A swell of pride filled Soren as she tiptoed around camp. Quietly she gathered what she needed and began to make breakfast. When it came time for more discussion at least it would be on a full belly all around. Yes, she had finally found home, and logs were part of the deal. |
