Arlin shifted in his small seat uncomftably. The papers in his backpocket seemed to be drilling a hole into his lower back. He watched with rapt boredom as it took the Regency nearly 40 minutes to commence one vote and the opening. No wonder nothing ever got done...
He scanned the throng of people in the room. No Rufus, no Sarah. Disappointed to say the least. They'd want to see what he had...
Finally, the vote on the Dark Order! Now was his chance, now he could begin the long journey to reclaim all what he had lost...
He shoved his way through the audience, pushing the much small people aside. He strode right up to the table, slamming several documents down. "Befer ya'll vote on the Dark Orders admission inta the Regency, I gots some things ya'll oughts ta see!" There were cries for order, some people wanted Arlin to sit down and shutup, others sat, watching the proceedings unfold. Arlin ignored the voices both inside and out that told him to sit down.
"I 'ave 'ere a signed admission, from an assassin, that Tarothin Armunn attempted ta hire him to perform an assassination on Queen Sarah of Nujelm!" Arlin bellowed. Accusations, curses, and more calls for order filled the room, as utter chaos filled it. Arlin was now in his element. He smiled big, knowing that his old underworld connections had helped him uncover the true nature of the case. Maybe he could be a detective...
"Let me see those" A small voice piped up from beside him. It was Savhanna. He merely nodded, and passed the documents to her. No one would listen to him, but maybe they would listen to her...
"These documents be true, I swears it!" He knew his word didnt mean much, but truth be told, this was it. Everyone had suspected Tarothin had hired the assassin himself, but now the proof was here. And he wasnt done yet.
"If Tarothin could hire assassins to try to kill the Queen hes supposed to protect...then maybe he hired the assassins on his own wife!" Arlin accused. "He may very well have been trying to frame Trinsic, for a pretext to invade them!" Arlin smiled wryly at this. The Dark Order must be stopped, no matter the cost. The Ends justify the means he supposed
"These documents are signed by Murdoc...a known assassin..." Arlin flinched. He remembered that Murdoc had wanted his name kept secret best as possible...He sighed inwardly. He owed Murdoc big for this one, but he'd make up for it.
Arlin watched as Lady Lia moved her way around the table, comming face to chest with the half-ogre. "Arlin" she squeeked "Sit down...or LEAVE" she bellowed with tremendous energy for a woman of her size. Arlin shrugged, and pushed his way out. The commotion could still be heard as he exited, and was greeted by the drow Darmug. "Good job..." was all the Azerothian officer said. Arlin smirked. At least someone appreciated his efforts.
He recalled to the Garden to take his mind off things...and there sat Arcana.... _________________ As the fire fades to night, remember always the ember that started it all. |
