Kelly walked through Minoc at a casual pace to the bank. She could only shake her head and crack a smile. Must it always end in violence? She thought as she opened the door to the Minoc bank. She pulled out her runebook and spoke the words to take her home. Once she arrived she went inside and penned a quick note. As she wrote it, she couldn't help but chuckle as her mind went to the meeting she just had with the two gypsy men. Arahim. She remembered him well from his time served in the Order of Sanctus. But still...he was a man. Steadfast in the thought Minoc was suddenly his.
Now she was used to insults and being ignored, hated, feared, and even loved. But then he had the nerve to try and tell her to stop and not leave? Had he been more assertive and perhaps necromancer, priest, cleric of an evil faith or belief, it just might have worked to stop her. At her age and stature though, it would take a lot to control her. Minoc was under her care by Ian's order in his absence. Kelly was not about to let a few mortal men stop her from her duty of protecting what was theirs.
His companion's many threats and accusations Kelly took seemingly light. Deep within, she knew the threat was serious enough. She was, in truth, the only one of her line. She would only hope they would not find out as it may give them more fuel to hunt her down. She had to find a prospect and manage to keep the chosen one alive long enough to bestow her "gifts" upon them. She was not a Cappadocian. She was a Setite. Her beloved Ian knew it and tolerated it for the millenia they have spent together as she was good at getting information. Setites were notorius for hold secrets and information. Few knew her true history. She played well by the rules of the Cappadocians under both Marius and Ronin, and now Ian.
She rolled the note up and plucked her messenger from the wall. She sat back in the chair and wondered how amused her drow friends would find this news.
"You'd think they would have been fine with the fact the dead were given prayer and roses, as well as a holy symbol. Its not like I turned them and left them to ravage the tents like rabid beasts....hmm...Maybe I should have done that. Bah. Let them cast me down. I have been to the Abyss and Hell and Back again." She looked over to the scorpion on the table. It sat there and watched her every move as if enthralled.
She picked up an apple from the fruit basket on her table. "Man will never be happy until we are extinguished.....no matter how hard we try to right the wrongs." She tossed the apple up and caught it in her other hand watching the scorpion's tail rise and fall with the fruit.
"There has to be a balance. The trick is getting mortals to see that." She stood up and walked out of her home, a stubborn, defiant expression upon her face and a smile upon her lips. The look of pure seductive, mischievous trouble. She pocketed the apple and pulled her book out and headed to Luna.
Once in Luna she cracked her knuckles and went to the stable. She pulled out the apple and cut it in half, giving one each of her horses. Raven stomped her hooves and nickered after eating and Barra reared. She smiled and patted each on their necks. "Yep you know when I tend to stir up trouble don't you?" She chuckled and opened Raven's stall. The little mare circled around her with excitement several times before Kelly mounted up and the pair rode around the city a bit before vanishing to the shadows. |

Dawn walked in the home and upstairs. Her skin paled as she saw the papers, notes, decrees, scrolls, quills and ink. She sat and read every one of them and only shook her head.
"Kelly. I have been through hell with the clan. But this?" She sighed and went through each one.
"I know. " Kelly's soft tone startled Dawn.
"I guess this is what I get for waking up and answering a note after a long sleep." She sat at the table across from Dawn.
Dawn looked down a moment before speaking. "You know damn well we aren't warriors. We are your crafters and animal handlers. But more importantly, your safe haven. I will not put Chaotic Justice in battle but I see little way around it if this....Order comes snooping about. Our loyalty lies with you and Ian. "
Kelly looked at all the papers on the table. "I have never felt so powerless in my existence. If those damned gypsies had not found the bodies of those mortals none of this would have happened." She laughed after slamming her fist on the table. "They weren't even gypsies! I at least was that careful in choosing my prey." She sat back in the chair. "Now the whole damn Order is on my ass wanting my head on a platter and heart for dessert." She shrugged and threw her hands up.
"They wont listen. They only see a monster. I do not want to lose the city because foolish mortals assume we are heartless murderers. I had to calm my hunger down before going back to bury the dead. By then, they were gone. Maybe I should just give up."
"Kelly...you are hard on yourself. It isn't like you to just...give up. If you give up, then they win. Where is that spirit I am so used to watching over?" Dawn sat forward looking at Kelly almost like a curious pup.
Dawn was right. If she gave up then Darrien and his lot would win. Land was a commodity. To be given and taken. She smiled and stood up. "You are right. I need to speak to my daughter....Time has come to give gifts." She purred the words with that ever troublesome grin as she went to find her daughter.
Dawn cleaned up the mess as Kelly left, bundling the papers up neatly for travel. She was wise to the ways of magic and so she gave a good cleansing of the home before pulling her runebook and making the trip to luna. She deposited the papers into the trash chest where it promptly vanished. "There. Now to go safeguard the home. " She pulled her book out and went home. |
