Well I figure I'd throw this out there nice and early to start the debate. If a classic shard comes to pass, who will move? Will the entire community? Will a new rp community form?
I know if it did happen I would play there as Beleth and attempt to re-establish Caina. _________________

I agree with Ken. I'd like to know more about it before commenting. |

No artifacts and pre-pub 16? Yes I'd make an alt and join the inevitable transfer of Europa/kinder sized shard RPers to the classic shard. |

For me, regardless of what time period it takes place in, so long as they revert back to pre-special moves and vanq weapons I am happy.
Truthfully I'd be happy with the UO we have now if they reverted just the item system back but whatever =) _________________

I got used to AoS.. I really didn't mind it and from what people tell me its much easier to make the item-based templates now.
I'd need to know more just like everyone else, but if it was a pre-AoS based shard I would definitely give it a try. |

Nope. Not me.
I like more stuff as opposed to less stuff.
Caina died for a reason. The RPers migrated to Tram in droves.
I don't mind PvP. I kept my home in Caina until I left the game. But I enjoy being able to RP in peace. _________________

If they have this I am definetly going to have char and a house on that shard. I started this game along time ago and when i came back i expected the basics to still be there. Death at every turn kept you on your toes. I miss those days. I just hope you can have more than one char. |

I guess I'll bite for real this time. "If" it is a real classic server, like the real deal, then I echo Beleth's thoughts; is the roleplay community going to move? Just try it out? Not bother at all?
I know in the past when the freeshard topic came up, the community was against moving, and while I originally thought that it was due to "I want to stick with official servers", I think it was more "I don't want to lose my stuff / abandon my current roleplay" kind of mentality.
If I had to guess will the community move or will it not move, I would guess no, no it won't.
Eh, indifferent. Be fun, though. |

I wouldn't. I love all the expansions and pixel crack. Going to a classic shard by pre aos standards would mean losing a ton of stuff that I enjoy. If I wanted to RP with all gm armor, I'd have gone back to Europa. |

The thing is though, we could COMPETE with all-GM armor. You wouldn't need a million things, and you could wear gear based on roleplay and not stats. What I wonder is what skills will be removed as well, and if customizable housing will be in. I'd love trammel looting again too. |

No way on earth. Got waaay too many houses grandfathered. I remember that the "good ol' days" weren't so good... lightning doing double damage to plate armor; keys lost meant losing houses; thieves and pks (and now with hacks) ruining everything? (IF they go back that far that is) Nope, no way no how. Atlantic is where I began, and it shall be where it ends. _________________ "If a criminal has what you want, you do business with him." |

Don't get your hopes up.
For all intents and purposes, UO is operating on the most skeletal of dev teams right now. Not only have they branched their code in two by creating the legacy client and the enhanced client, but they also have the Siege/Mugen ruleset to worry about. It would be the stupidest thing ever to further fracture the codebase by implementing a classic shard. _________________
