Riding Belegohtar through Dark Cove towards his keep, Mave nodded to himself, content that all seemed as it was when he left less than a week ago. In the dead of night, a messanger had come to him, bringing news that his mother had gone missing. Leaving messages for only a select few, Mave had instantly grabbed his sword, mounted and rode off to the secluded elven village where he had hidden her away when they were thrown out of Luna.

As Mave rides through Dark Cove he thinks back on what had happened...

Upon arriving at the village he was informed that his mother had gone missing a few nights before and they had just received word that she was being held by a band of human thieves and murderers. They had taken her while she was out alone in the forest and were hoping to bargain with her life for supplies from the elven village. Though the elven village had enough warriors to be able to defeat these humans, the message they sent said specifically that only one person was to bring a wagon full of supplies. If they saw the elves in force, she was dead. After the elves had finished explaining this to Mave, he simply nodded and gathered them together to tell them what they would do.

Riding into the clearing on a wagon, Mave quickly scanned the band before him. Seeing 20-25 in the group he nodded to himself and continued forward at a slow pace, his cowl pulled low, hiding his face. From the group split three of the bigger men, pushing Mave's mother in between them. Mave brought the wagon to a stop and smiled. Three would not be a problem.

As they approached, he stepped from down from the wagon.

"Here is your wench elf, now leave the supplies and run back to your village" the biggest man said with a smirk on his face.

Allowing a brief second for the men to start wondering what this elf was about, Mave then whipped out his blade and quickly stabbed the one on his right, then spinning, putting his mother at his back, he sliced through the gut of the second. Continuing his spin, keeping his mother behind him, he put himself in between his mother and the third man who had previously been behind her. As the man's eyes grew wide, he reached for his blade and opened his mouth to shout an alarm, one that never escaped his lips as Mave quickly brought his blade around and removed the man's head from his shoulders.

Having seen what had happened, the other members of the renegade band sprung into action. Some began racing across the clearing while others began to set arrow to bow.

Without a moment's pause, Mave gathered his mother up and heaved her into the back of the wagon, then leaped in after her as arrows began to descend apon them. But the arrows did not slice through the cloth canopy of the wagon as the men had expected for Mave had ordered that wooden shielding be hidden behind the cloth. As the men watched thier arrows harmlessly bury themselves in the sides of the wagon, they realized the extent of the rescue for out of the woods surround the clearing came a barrage of elven arrow from those that had been hidden in the trees waiting for this moment... not a single member of the band of rogues left that clearing alive.

Mave took his mother back to the village and spent another day with just her, content to let his mind be free from the worries of his position for the extent of just one day. Then he mounted up and set off to return to his land...

Smiling to himself as he thinks back on that day of peace, Mave dismounts Belegohtar and sends him back to the Astral Plane to rest. Walking into the keep his eyes are immediately drawn to a number of messages left on his desk.

Sighing, he sits down and begins to read over them... the attack on Ditto... the postponement of the caravan to Trinsic... Savannah seemingly losing her mind and shouting at Ditto at the Trinsic Council meeting...

Noding to himself as he reads each one he places them in the back of his mind to be dealt with. For now he sets about preparing himself for the Regency meeting tonight...

[01:48] Deathwisp: well I always rub the fuzzy part before I pull it off
[01:48] Mave: ...what?
[01:49] Deathwisp: you know, the fuzzy... nvm
