|
Late last year an attempt was made to begin classes at the Alderglen Academy in Yew, fel. I think a lot of the problem was timing of the classes, Sunday evening seems a lot of us prepare for the following week in game.
So, I propose that we not attempt to stick strickly to any single night of the week, but rather, work with the visiting lecturer (as it were) to schedule classes at what would be most convenient for her/him and the population of the community in general, working around tavern nights, guild meeting nights, and any other times when either EM or com special events are planned.
Am hoping to entice many of those who volunteered before to sign up again. We attempt to keep the whole session within a one hour timeframe, with a dinner break midway. If one volunteers to be a Visiting Lecturer, it would be nice to know if the presentation is a one-night session, or how many evenings should be scheduled. We won't send the Mercinaries after you if you change your mind. (well, I couldn't afford them anyway!)
Cost was 5K gold before, including a gourmet meal during the break (if our caterer is still available). The meals alone are are worth more than the fee. If this is more than one can afford, there will be scholarships available. Additonally, all books used by lecturers will be available as copies for students at no extra cost. (Is that a bargain or no.... Wowers)
I would hope that guilds might post the information on their boards, and encourage members to attend when convenient and interested.
It will be pretty much left to lecturers how they wish to handle their presentations, remember, audience participation and humour go a long way toward making things interesting.
If you volunteered before and are willing to do so again, please contact me by PM here, or ICQ at 24-556-194.
I am totally open so far as subject matter goes and hopefully will have those who are interested in debating specific subjects or each other. If so, I am sure we have people who know how to manage debates complete with audience questions/answers.
AND........
Let us know what specific areas you would like to hear/learn about/or debate. Someone will usually volunteer to teach. We all want to be heard or we wouldn't be in RP!
So, let's kick this around and see if we as a comm can come up with something dynamic here.
The ball is in your court.
thanks.....

Hrm. The Evil RP classes I plan to teach there in the future would be OOC, so not certain how that would play into the whole "dinner" thing. But if word of Academy and its work gets out to Izrem, he might consider coming and giving a lecture on Oblivion or of the "darker side of History". _________________ Femmies?! HOWAH!

I nominate thee as our first Visiting Lecturer, Mayor Bracken; perhaps you could lecture on "Mayoralship for Fun and Profit."
This, of course, could be followed by Grey Pawn lecturing on "The fine art of Politics and Architecture from Ancient Times to the Present."
Grignag's query about OOC classes raises a question which I leave to others wiser than I to deal with. I see no problem so long as it is presented in advance as OOC. Who am I to question an Orc anyway. Anyone care to comment on that? |
