There are times when people come to these boards to express their anger, their pain, their happiness, and other types of emotions. It is one of those times for me. Luckily, however, this is a post expressing sheer happiness, that I just wanted to share with all of you.

A large majority of you know by now that my father has been living with a brain injury from a motorcycle accident that happened roughly seven years ago. For the past six years, he has lived with my uncle and me. The first few years were rough (and thus I had to drop out of school and work part-time to help him and help pay bills), but these last few years have shown steady progress. So much progress, in fact, that he's reached the next step.

As of March 1st, my father will be moving out of the house and in to an assisted living apartment. I can not tell you how proud I am of him. He went from flat lining in the hospital, from spending months in a coma, from being told he'll never walk again, to now organizing his life and moving into his own apartment. Words cannot express how proud I am of him.

So during your days over the week, lift a drink in honor of my father, James Young. He's come a long way, and he's not done yet.

*gets all teary eyed* Darn it. Huge Congrats. Alright, lifting my coffee to James Young, for defying the odds and having the will to fight. Very Happy

I am so very pleased that he is doing well. I know it is a weight off your shoulders too, knowing that he will keep progressing. That is just awesome news.

Being a nurse it is quite rewarding when patients defy the doctors and do what they were told they couldn't. Way to go Sir...show them doctors that they have no flipping clue what they are talking about!!!!
