She half-expected him not to but Sarker had agreed to the terms, without hesitation, and his ban had been lifted.
Above Stonegate Library, in their new apartment...
Felyn sat quietly at the vanity, a blank expression looking back at her. She blinked, her ice blue eyes examining her own face. A face of such beauty that she had led even the most virtuous men astray. She once used her face, her body, and her charm to get anything she wanted. Now, despite her flirtations, she only sought the intimate company of one man.
Unfortunately, he had a terminal illness. He was human.
He was part of "The Child Race", as her father liked to call them. Even if he lived to be an old man, she would still only be a young woman. She had confessed her fears to him. He told her not to worry about it.
"He is incapable of understanding.", she thought bitterly. |
