The Regent's courier delivered the following letter to the King's residence:

"Greetings Exalted Majesty,

I recently returned from meetings, one of which I told you about earlier. Mayor Bracken was amicable and expressed his desire for peace, but was determined that the influence of Blackmarsh extend to Yew, Felucca, regardless. I offered a counter plan, wherein champions could be chosen by opposing sides and they fight it out, but he rejected it. My mission, therefore, was a failure. War looms ahead.

These are desperate times milord and I met with a leader who promised aid conditionally. Those conditions I cannot describe now, but the forces he can muster might well make the battle winnable. In addition, he revealed to me that his sources had discovered that Stonegate would be assisting Blackmarsh in this venture, and also that we may have been deceived by Blue Lotus. He revealed that Stonegate has a pact, the Shadow Pact, I think he called it, whereby they would aid one another in war. I know this may come as a shock to you, perhaps not if your sources discovered this, but we must contemplate that our allies will be fewer in number than expected and the number of our enemies, much greater. I have not heard a word from any Protectorate leaders and that is quite distressing.

As to those conditions, I am willing to accept them but only if you know that it may cost me my llfe. Yet, as I said, I will do anything to preserve the freedom and maintain the welfare of Yew. Please tell me if you want the aid that might help you win the battle. I can say no more, or I would. I am pledged to secrecy and my word is good.

Please advise your humble servant in this matter quickly. The fate of Yew may depend upon it.

Your Humble Servant,

Thraxas
Lord Regent of Yew"

Lord Regent

You have gone above and beyond duty and your actions will be recorded as so. Dark times have come back to us after a couple of years of peace. We can only do our best and pray the people will lead Yew to a victory, but as they have sworn to take Yew for themselfs ,I fear there will be more battles ahead.
