"Eh, tha's the last a it. Ya...sure ya wanna be leavin' Jewel?" Arlin looked down on his blond half-sister, after lifting the last of her baggage onto a pack horse. Even though she was older than him by half a dozen years, she didnt have the ogre blood that coarsed through Arlins veins.
"Im sure. Thanks for all your help. I hope what I left you will be enough." Arlin merely nodded. He helped lift his sister up onto her mount, a magnificent stallion. This time he had to look up to her as they said thier final goodbyes. He had always looked up to her, she had been the one to take care of him during thier youth. After a final, strong hug between the siblings, she rode off, darting inbetween the buildings of Moonglow, quickly leaving Arlins sight.
A single tear travelled down the crevice that marred his cheek, the gift of an over-zealous axe from a battle long past. He wandered into the woods, as he found himself doing more often these days. He armor creaked softly against his large frame, and he began to think deeply. More and more, friends disappeared....either dying, or leaving the realm. He thought back to the Yew Militia, and how he was the sole surviving member from those days. He let loose a single sigh, and leaned against a large oak tree.
He cheered up a bit, spotting a large hart as it darted away, its midday meal disturbed by an unexpected guest. His thoughts turned to Arcana, and how close they had grown...and the kiss they had shared. Unexpected, spontaneous, bold...everything Arlin now thought himself to be. For some reason, just the thought of the icy-eyed knight brought a smile to his face. That, and the tight-fitting armor she loved to wear.
Hobbling along with a limp, another gift from a battle he couldnt remember, he whistled a tune, niether happy, nor sad. Times had changed, as had all things. Was the way of things, or at least he had been told, and Arlin never liked fighting against the tide. He didnt mind altering it a bit to his liking however. He grinned, thoughts of war, gold, and a certain lady knight on his mind.
