Dealthagar floated in the vat, anchored by tendrils and tentacles of his own flesh, keeping him at depths most would have difficulty getting to. He found the silence of the depths comforting, compared to the madness and chatter of his slaves and servants laboring.

Using the glass stylus, he drew on the hollowed crytallyne panel, creating layered images in shadow and light. The tool was not yet perfected, but it allowed him to have this time alone and yet stil be productive. The schematics were too important to let wait.

The Drow Empress had given him access to her personal crafter. That added Isis of Qu'ellar D' Alean'und to the growing list of Umbran artizens he would tap for the wonderwork. Sularis the Damned, The Drone simply called Technomancy, Mari... not to mention the gypsies and Dragonstorm crafters who he had yet to hear from...the list was shaping up well.

The Palace of Industry would be more than a simple building filled with crafter's workstations. It would be a Cathederal of Technomancy, a virtual testament to the power of labor. And it was only a beginning.

The Wonderwork would beome an epicenter of commerse. Gold, materials, supplies, and labor would flow to Umbra. The empire would see a time of prosperity that would rival the first age.

All built on the back of the humble iron gear.

All he had endured, all he had suffered, all he had sacrificed...he would finally be rewarded for the fruits of his labor and devotion.

And he would have her restored to him.

His eyes narrowed, as his mind's eye pictured his teeth deep in her flesh, the taste of her life spilling across his tounge. His skin rippled and his tendrils undulated at the simple thought of her caress...

He bit hard into his lower lip, breaking the skin. The salty tang of his black blood brought him back to the task at hand. The designs for the Palace were nearly complete; he could not delay with them. If he was to ask Darrien to give him what was his rightfully, he would have to give the Lich Lord even more than he expected.

He would give him more than anyone expected, more than anyone thought was possible.

Umbra would be more than the City of the Damned. It would become the Eye of the Void. The Great Maker of Unmaking.
