Felyn laid quietly on a king-sized bed in one of the largest suites at one of the finest inns. She had lavished herself with plenty of creature comforts, hoping to somehow forget about last night. Her morning began with a fresh fruit platter and an imported bottle of Elven wine. Then she treated herself to a massage and convinced the boy to stay longer and feed her grapes. She dismissed him after that, his face unable to hide his disappointment. He looked so much like her soldier boy, she had been tempted to bed him and then kill him.

"Damn him.", she whispered to the empty room.

Before she met Sarker, she was able to keep herself safe from the burden of emotions. Her actions, while seemingly impulsive, were usually calculated and always self-serving. Yet Sarker somehow managed to get to her. At first, it was infuriating. Then it became a novelty. Finally, she accepted it. After all of her years with so many different men, she figured it was statistically probable to end up caring for one of them.

She thought of his strong arms wrapped around her, murmuring that he loved her. Her half smile quickly faded, remembering what Sarker had done to Zeth.

Zeth. The other one. She loved one but felt such affection for the other...

"No.", she reminded herself. Zeth was never hers.

Before Felyn realized it, the memories of Zeth came flooding back into her mind. When he had pinned her to the wall in Britain, later admitting that he had wanted to take her right there. In the courthouse, when he grabbed her waist, turning her from him, pulling her close, bringing his mouth to her neck, his hot breath on her skin...

"Stop it!", she scolded herself.

It was all she could do to keep from rushing to his cave to find him. She didn't even know what she would say and she dared not step foot on Stonegate lands.

That night, in the back bedroom of the Stonegate High Court...

Felyn awoke to the sound of the bedroom door closing, the latch quietly clicking into place. Staring into the darkness, she had no idea how long she had been asleep. Her mind wrestled between thoughts of Zeth and Sarker; just as her dreams had, only moments before waking.

She folded her hands on her naked stomach and sighed quietly. The scent of her encounter with the Lycan still lingered. She absentmindedly drew the bed sheet in between her legs to wipe away the dampness of him.

"Sarker will never forgive me.", she thought.

She tried to convince herself that she did not care but her own body betrayed her as a single tear fell from her each of her ice blue eyes.
