Every scream pierced his heart, each cry of pain and plead for mercy, ripped at his mind and tore at his chest with more fury and tenacity than any weapon. Darkness hung over the house and dawn seemed an eternity away. This was the longest night he would ever live, the pain demanding he surrender, everything in his heart ready to give with only reason and vengeance to refuse absolution.

Orelen looked into his mother's eyes as he held her in his arms. His father lay, already past thought, and past speech. The last words he had heard him speak became a lie, echoing in his mind now.

"I will see you this evening m'lad. Do try and enjoy your day." His father's words repeating within his mind, refusing to release his thoughts.

There was little left in his mother and there stood less than nothing he could do to help. She had accepted finality and spoke weighted words, giving to much effort to say her goodbyes, held in her son's arms as she departed.

"I love you, my dear boy. Leave vengeance to die here, with us and go. Go, and live." It is likely she slipped away before he could respond, he was at a complete loss of words. Except only to say I love you, mother. Rest well... I will see you soon.

Britain was left behind him, soon following that night. Each night he held the same dream while asleep in the city, and each passing day he grew more weary of the only crime he must solve, and the only one to evade him.

He tossed and turned as the thoughts poured back into his mind, inundating his heart with a pain he assumed he had left behind. It felt close now, he had no choice but to return to what he had abandoned. The skeleton in his closet reared it's ugly head each time he considered that house, and all that had occurred. Rolling to his side, his eyes rested on Willow, still asleep, though alert, as usual. For her, and their family, it was held as his duty. Though facing his past where it lay dieing, stood as a stretch, even to his duty. His heart sank in his chest at the thoughts of what loomed on the horizon, and he rolled over, desperately trying to clear his head of pain, best left, where they died.

Everynight since their arrival slumber was disturbed. Orelen turned ever so slightly almost like clockwork. Willow didn't have to ask, she knew of his skeletons in the closet. She knew what she was asking by having him return to his family home, yet she knew too that his return, whatever the reason maybe, was long over due. It tormented her hearing him shift everynight trying not to disturb her own slumber. There was little else she could do save just being there as these were his demons. No blade would cut through these memories. Her one wish is that the memories in his head will cease to haunt him as if it had been he that stole their final breath.
