The sun cast gentle rays down to the earth as it kissed the oceans surface dancing across it in a silent goodnight. It was setting upon Sosaria and the tiny boat just off Jhelom would now at last see its end. A Mage appeared standing tall upon a cliff with a direct view of the tiny boat.
The mage was dressed in deep red and the earth around him seemed to churn with heat. Malikhia paused his hands lifting slightly. The words of power rang out clearly, well practiced and known. From the heavens, fire rained down in cataclysmic glory touching the boat with heat beyond that of normal man. Beyond that of any creature. The Pyromancers work, efficient. The boat did not float along ablaze but was simply incinerated, its ashes still glowing hot steaming across the top of the water.
It was gone, Sarme's sentence carried out.
To the naked eye, the words of the Wolf King, at the end of the trial, were carried out. Myrddin had allowed Sarme one more reprieve shocking all with the generosity of it, simply bring him the weapon and the thief and Sarme could set sail free with a boat. If not he and boat would be destroyed. No Weapon was returned, no other thief produced and so the sentence was clear. Death
Yet, looks are not all that they seem.
******************************************************************************************************
The thief was brought below after the trial, and Myrddin spoke again. Confusion split the people of Stonegate, for the King was not ussually so long winded. He continued to speak the footsteps of guests in the courthouse overhead slowly dissipating. No one really understanding why once more the thief had been spared.
Until at last Myrddin said simply, Dispatch him.
It was as if hell had been unleashed, Mages cast, warriors held weapons high. Willow and Merci quickly upon him. She heard Willows weapon enter, and then the delicious sound of her own ripping thru the thieves body. Her Harvestor delivering the final blow. She shivered deliciously. Her mind racing with excitement.
She walked from the cell both of them wiping the blood onto their aprons and Myrddin looked at Merci with a bit of loss in his eyes. I am sorry Merci, it seems that we will not get your weapon back.
Time and space seemed to open up before her, she saw the ghost materialize, she understood what was about to happen next, this was her punishment.
Her words ringing out to them leaving them for a moment in stunned silence.
It's a good thing I found that weapon then.....
She walked from the room. Willows eyes rounded, Mio and Mai gasped and Myrddins face changed with anger They followed her. Fiona found her first cleaning the weapon meticulously. Merci is that the.. she cut off.
The growl was audible and she stood calmly, knowing the fury of Myrddin, but then it was certainly due.
She lowered her head, and they glared at her. He composed himself, Myrddins next words surprising her. He was a thief upon our lands his death was surely warranted regardless. Let us speak of this to no one.
So it ended with silence and Merci could see the angry ghost as it haunted her, the Oracle sensing it all to well. In the darkness of her room as she lay in her bed, she recited unto herself, law number two of the Realm of Umbra,
2. Those committing murder are punishable by possible eternal haunting, keep that in mind ahead of time. Also remember, that in many cases, raising of the murdered will reveal the murderer.
Goodnight Sarme, the ghost stared down at her, as if to say, Goodnight Merci... _________________ May destiny guide you... |
