Alaundril found the strength late in the evening to leave this short letter to the Oracle.

Lady Merci:
My apologies for slipping out of sight. The cold here is more than I am able to bear. I have fallen ill as of the past few weeks. I have found it harder and harder to work above even during the evening. The cold and sheer glare of the cursed snow has rendered me blind and rather useless. But I am regaining my strength and sight slowly. I have taken to one of the deepest caverns in the Mountains here. Both the darkness and warmth have been welcome. I hope to see you soon, but I fear that I cannot walk the surface as I fear the same fate that I have suffered for weeks now. What good is your Shadowmancer if he is blinded and his eyes are bleeding? Perhaps you can help me with a device that can ease the bright glare of the north. The cold can be battled, but it takes special precautions to protect one of my....kind.

My friend, we knew that the drow were not fond of the ice and snow it is not with happy heart that I hear you retreat into th mountain. I think the best course of action is to procure a dwelling in the valleys. While you have been regaining strength Stonegates territorys have expanded. We will easily find you a more suitable and warmer valley location to dwell in.
May I suggest special glasses to dull the white effect of the snow.
