He appeared in front of the moongate dazed and disoriented. Its shimmering blue glow, although dim, hurt his eyes briefly. He stumbled toward a nearby boulder and sat down to make sense of what had happened. This place looked incredibly familiar to him somehow, but was simultaneously foreign in every way. He sat confused for what seemed like only a few minutes, but when he next gazed upward, the sun was rapidly setting as two moons became brighter in the darkening sky. He got up and surveyed his surroundings for the first time since appearing from the gate. A verdant forest surrounded him, and gigantic trees dotted the landscape. A fleeting memory flashed in his mind; he could not grasp it, but was left with a single word repeating in his head: home.
He noticed the faint glimmer of town lights in the distance and began walking towards them.
