So, Darrien had found a way to bring the Orcs back under his sway. Interesting. Izrem doubted it would last long. He could have the Orcs under a perfect thrall, and something would come along to screw it up.
The kidnapping, by most standards, would have seemed like a terrible debacle. Drayek the "fleshcrafter" had certain done her part in maiming Arakad for some slight he had committed (which often depended on the temperament of the Lich Lord). It struck Izrem as somewhat excessive to do it on his wedding night, but the will of the Lich Lord knew no restriction due to timing, did it?
But throughout the process of torture, as Izrem watched, he was struck with a marvelous idea. Arakad clearly was not human, and the marking he bore suggested some sort of connection to the meer.... it was time for a test.

Ordering a sample of Arakad's blood from Drayek, Izrem swiftly secreted it away before any attacks could seperate him from his prize. Izrem returned to the hill and empowered the runes. Even if they all fell, Charnel Hill would not. And in the due course of time, the forces of the Undead and Orcs were beaten back by the onslaught of a numerically superior and understandably angry rescue force. Too late to prevent Arakad from being mutilated and discarded, but Izrem was sure they collected some level of satisfaction from their little victory.

Returning to the Sepulcher of Unmaking, battered and weak of spirit, Izrem rested until the night. When at last he awoke, he returned to Charnel Hill and collected several things, Drayek happening to be among them. The night progressed as Izrem spoke with Drayek, purifying his blood sample and crystallizing it for the Entropy Field Generators consumption.

"Soon it will be done. Just a few more elements and it will be complete at last..." Izrem thought to himself.
"What other blood samples do you need?" Drayek asked as Izrem mulled over the crystallized blood.
"The blood of a lycan, a Skyfire, an Ab'Arwan... and Orc... and I suppose a gargoyle, now that they have shown themselves recently." Izrem replied.

The blood samples would be difficult to collect. Certainly few of the required bloodlines would willing surrender even a droplet to him. Not without shedding a whole lot in battle first. But... that would just need to be the way it went. Sending out a call on the ethereal winds of the Grove, Izrem relayed his targets and his needs to the other Undead.

So close... so close.
