Aunt Merri,

Syl and I had come to your home, hoping to introduce you to our son, but must have just missed you. Were it not for you, this birth, and the months leading up to it, would have been very trying for us.

I know there are many things impacting your life right now, but please come to see us as soon as you are able. I think if you held little Christopher for even a short time, you might feel your troubles somewhat lightened.

We are at the camp where they buried your brother, my father.

With Love,
Arahim

Merrique re-read the brief letter yet again, her heart alternately joyous and saddened. A baby boy borne unto the world, healthy and strong, was indeed cause for celebration. The idea of holding the child offered a sense of mixed hope and desperation for the woman, whose own son had marched headlong into service of the Lich Lord. Her own strong, bold, half-gypsy son whose future Merrique could only guess at with the darkest reaches of her imagination. With a shaking hand she penned a long overdue response and quickly dispatched her niece to deliver it personally.

Dearest Arahim,

I regret missing your visit. Indeed I would love to meet your son. The family must be overjoyed at your return and the child's arrival.

You are correct in the fact that there have been many impacts upon my life, but it is time to take a break from those things.

I suspect I know just where to find you, and you can expect me within the next several sunsets.

Fondly,
Merrique
