His late night meeting with Ariana had left Arahim tired and feeling aggravated in a way he could not clearly define. She had taken over the conversation smoothly enough, with a patient, praticed grace, and had not spoken a single idea that he had not already thought a dozen times over. Still, he left her manor in greater turmoil than when he had first arrived.

She had cut to the very core of his present situation, and, with certainty, gleaned many aspects of his personality not implicitly stated. This was to be expected. Arahim had always been somewhat artless in conversation. Though not simple, he was far too courteous and forthright in action and thought.

It was not this which niggled at him, quite the opposite. Why did the object of his irritation not see it for themselves?

For the first time since taking it, the Oath he swore to Sanctus chafed him.

If any within Sanctus noticed Arahim's recent discontent and subsequent distance, they either ignored it, or didn't care enough to make it an issue, and -this- was the source of his current state of mind as he slowly rode through the silent city to the Luna moongate.

A part of him wanted nothing more than to exacerbate the situation and leave Lady Lenoir's personal letter of safe conduct through Umbran territory, complete with the city's seal, as well as her own, on the steps of Blackguard. Another round of angry words with Davaran Skyfire would be a comfort to Arahim.

He had never envisioned the Order of Knighthood as standing docile in straight, neat lines, parrotting dogma to the lesser scions of a much nobler bloodline. Where a dissenting voice is told to 'squelch it' while his oft-named brothers and sisters in arms stand like mute drones, afraid or unwilling to stand out, and put forth an opinion.

"Let them apologize to orcs. Remain silent, and indecisive at the oh-so important Protecterate meetings. Let them preen, and polish their lofty Skyfire name as tho' the title outweighs deeds," he thought bitterly as he walked through Luna's moongate to the Compassion Shrine in Ilshenar.

Riding slowly, under the familiar canopy of stars, he wanted nothing more than to see Sylvan and his son.

"I don't care who wins this war," he thought.
