Azunda examined his notes as he began to brew the remedy for the disease Kaelthir infected him with a few nights before. Satisfied that he was able to balance the ingredients in their proper proportions, he slumped across his table in absolute agony. His head was spinning, his cough made any attempt at reciting the verbal components of spells impossible; He was stranded in his tower, with very little to do except rest. However, he was quite curious to know how Stonegate was holding up after he spread the pestilence to their region. Always the kind to kick someone when they're down, Azunda found a loose scrap of paper and a pen and began to write.

Hello friends,

I hope this letter finds you in good health, but I'm certain reality dictates otherwise. I promised you information regarding the activities of Umbra and her new denizens, and I am writing you to be true to my word. Today I have something more for you than throne room gossip, friends. I have begun creating the remedy to the disease that some devilishly handsome, white-haired necromancer saw fit to afflict you with.

I must admit, my faith in your ability to keep me safe has wavered given the poor treatment I received last we met, so I'll be requesting an alternate form of payment should you still wish to remain close allies in your plight against the Lich Lord. The payment shall be discussed at a later date, should you choose to accept it. If you wish the recipe for the remedy, I will ask less. If you wish for the remedy itself, I will ask for more.

Do write back, if you're able.

Azunda

Erupting in a fury of coughs and laughter, Azunda called forth a wraith. "Deliver this to Stonegate, don't stay long enough to make friends."

While initially the wolf king felt nothing, it was quite clear the moment Azunda touched him and walked away hacking that this was a scheme of Kaelthir's, a being he was quickly starting to despise as much as Darrien himself. Having quarantined himself within the walls of the small building he called his personal quarters, it had been a night and most of a day. It was now very much obvious that Azunda had transferred something.

It wasn't that blood or vomit was issued from his person, and he did cough, but it was not all that often. What he suffered more than anything was an internal struggle within his body. It caused him to breath heavier, it caused sweat to appear on his forehead, it caused him to be stationary when he should be mobile...

In truth, these results were more than most who contracted the illness could of hoped for. The lycan blood that ran through his veins was combating the virus, healing what it damaged, the two endlessly chasing one another. It kept him from being nearly as bad as he could be...but there was only so much the regeneration could do..it slowed his age, it stopped bleeding, it healed wounds large and small..and this was taxing him to a point that none of those things could take place. It was sapping his energy.

After a few hours of doing nothing but resting and enduring this illness, his anger was palpable. When the note came from Azunda, his eyes burned into the parchment and he did not hesitate to respond.

Azunda,

If my health was not a concern of yours before, I will assure you it shall be in days to come. I am confident at this point in time that your information is a farce, or at the very best entirely worthless, even if true. I am sure I can say the same thing of this remedy of yours.

Your faith in my ability to protect you should be shaken, as I will do everything in my power to see you fall, no matter how many times you get back up. I should thank you for the further proof that outside of the Orc force that is more supportive of my efforts than those of you and your kin, Darrien's forces are entirely ignorant in the art of war. That you would doubt my abilities based on treatment is a pathetic notion of nobility, one that I doubt you hold even among your friends in Umbra.

Good luck on your efforts to remedy your illness, I will seek my own answers. If I do decide to take you up on your offer, the payment will be one of my choosing, by my own hand, and it will not benefit you in the least.

I do hope I find you before Darrien.

-Myrddin Ab'Arawn
Wolfking of Stonegate
