The messenger appears quite elegantly dressed, similar to the heralds of nobility. He wears an ornate, jewel-encrusted pin in the shape of a tokunese dragon on his vest. His mannerisms and speech drip with tones of respect and worship. He will inform that he has a scroll to be delivered only into the hands of Lord Church personally. He will recite all of Darrien's titles after each time after speaking his name as if they had been ingrained into his memory.

The scroll is sealed with blue wax, bearing the House crest of Lenoir pressed into it. It reads...

Lord Church,

Thank you once again for the accommodations and comforts you have bestowed upon me. The change in the inn management was most welcome. The new innkeeper seems much more eager to follow directions than the last one and as of yet has given me very little reason to be displeased. Although, you deserve nothing less than a letter praising your foresight and graciousness, I feel I must continue to the initial reason for my letter. I wish to make a request. At your convenience, I would like to speak with you privately in person. Our arrangement needs to be further defined and explored.

Walking through the Ancient Chamber, Kaelthir caught glimpse of a scroll under her throne, seemingly having rolled under it somehow. After studying the seal for a moment, she opened the scroll to read it. For a few moments, Kaelthir wondered how long the message had been lost, and quickly left for Morn Cirith to pen a reply.

****

A songbird seeks out Ariana, a small rolled up paper attached to its leg.

Lady Lenoir,

I just discovered the message you sent, the scroll lost under my throne. Our Lord is quite busy, I highly recommend seeking myself, Shalcross, Bailos, or Aragothias instead to discuss these arrangements. After all, it is our task to take care of our followers and Umbra.

"A letter has arrived, M'lady..." the servant said as he extended the tiny scroll to her waiting hands. She fluttered her hand at him to shoo him from the room without even so much as a glance at him as she unrolled it and read. As she read, her eyes narrowed and her lips pursed and it was obvious she was quite displeased with the letter's contents.

A soft whisper from the shadows in the corner of the room, "Something has choked your chicken it would seem..."

"Indeed, " she responded, not even bothering to look in the direction of the masculine voice. "Remember the courier whom delivered the missive to Lord Church?"

A soft murmur of affirmation.

"Kill him." she said simply.

"As you will it, it shall be done, " the voice said and then the room quite still.

Ariana smirked slightly once again and began to pen a response.

Lady Dazardrez,

I do appreciate thy concern in this matter and I apologize that you had to remove time from thy important duties to convey such a message to me. It would seem my association with Lord Church and his city has been severely misunderstood. If you would simply inform Lord Church that I no longer seem to find pleasure in the accommodations he has so graciously provided and while I am grateful for the use of them, I have chosen to return to my manor. Should he require future correspondence with myself, he may contact me there. Once again, I do appreciate your time and offer to help clarify this matter, however, it will be unnecessary. I do feel compelled to clarify that any mild displeasure that may seep from the tone of this letter is not in any way directed at thyself. May the night keep you safe in her embrace.
