Cayla sat outside the door frustrated for the better part of an hour. She had come to see the Regent, but in going so long without speaking she had spoken poorly and too slow to make herself understood... she belonged on the other side of the door, maybe if she had spoken better she would be. Instead she was banished to the cold side of the door and forgotten.

The door opened and someone emerged... The one they called Bailos smelled of death and cruelty, from himself or others he surrounded himself with. Either way she did not like him.

Maybe now they will call on her...

No.

Another emerges, passes her by... ignores her.

Another with a mask of Ivory passes, maybe now?

No.

"Maybe these are not the people I remember, maybe these people are not worthy of my debt."

Being removed from Sanctus for wearing a cowl over her face by a man with a pink mohawk was maddening...

"What has happened to these people?" she thought to herself, "So afraid, cautious, and paranoid. Under such conditions only zealotry can breed, not equality or goodness."

At least her meeting with the Regent went well, but she had taken on a task she wasn't sure she could accomplish... at least on a large scale. Maybe she could cure one or two of the sick, but many would require more effort than she could ever muster alone.

With so many sick she had to help, but would not show her face, not to Sanctus, not to anyone still alive... even if it meant being outcast. Outcast was much better than dead.
