Kelly pulled the shroud over her and summoned her charger this evening. She had to find out the latest occurrences in the Drow Quarter and rode to Umbra. With great caution, she rode through the silent streets of the city out the eastern gate. She rode to the Temple of Lloth and dismissed her mount before walking up and looking around.
"Kal? Nalimar?" She looked around and found no one there. On the way out, Kelly kicked the dread spider statues just for good measure.

She then headed to the Tangled Web Tavern. It was where she usually found them. But tonight there was an eerie quiet in the Drow Quarter. She knew something wasn't right. Kelly headed up the steps without a sound. Her keen senses alert, she put her hands on the cold iron doors. She paused before opening them and walked inside.

Kelly pulled the hood back so she could look around. "Kal? Nalimar? Drayden?" No answer. Hell, there was not even a heartbeat in the place other than her own. It was odd that there was no one up. She went upstairs and looked but again came up with nothing.

When she turned to head downstairs, she heard footsteps, the tavern door open and close....a heartbeat. She headed down to see who it was. Kelly stood a bit surprised at the base of the steps.

"Well well. Good evening. Renenutet." She grinned. A long time foe, Renenutet was the last person she thought to see this evening. "What brings you out here to the Drow Quarter?"

"Isis. I came to see how she was doing." Rene stated. Her eyes trained on Kelly, knowing how tricky the vampire was. "Last time I checked on her, she was behaving oddly. It was like she was missing something." Still making no move to leave or come further in. "The way she acted, I figured she was in love."

"Ahh. I see." Kelly paused in thought. Knowing what it was that Isis was missing and deciding how to tell Renenutet without a fight occurring. "I think I know...umm...hmmm." Her words trailed off.

Rene raised a brow. "Oh you do?" She was watching Kelly's every move now.

"It isn't love." Kelly watched Rene, glad there was a large distance between them.

"What is it then?" Rene half asked, half demanded.

"It is more like a want or need. You see...I visited her." Kelly saw the anger shoot right up in Rene.

"What?! Kelly!!" She was angry. How could this beast touch Isis! Isis was her only living relative and be damned if she wanted anything else to happen to her.

"I did not harm her. I can promise you that." She watched Rene close some of the distance.
Kelly looked to the chair nearby and casually took a seat. "Care to join me?" She motioned to the chair across the table.

Renenutet walked over and sat, arms folded over her chest.

Kelly sat back in her chair and began. "Not long ago, I came to the Drow Quarter to visit Kal and Nalimar." She saw Rene stiffen at the mention of their names. "We had a pleasant chat going on and I brought up that bracelet of yours. Apparently, Nalimar had forgotten about it or just didn't care. They told me of their little pet. Isis. They also told me how they used her." She paused to let it sink into Rene's head. "They said she had been particularly good lately. Nalimar brought her over to meet me. I looked the girl over. She had been beaten down. While I couldn't see it physically, her behavior spoke volumes in the submissiveness." She watched Rene from across the table.

"I wanted to give her something. So I gave her a moment of the most extreme bliss she could ever have. I bit her. Yes. I fed from her." Kelly wondered who in umbra didnt hear Rene scream in rage at her at that moment.

"KELLY!!!! How could you?!" Rene screamed enraged.

"I do not deny what I am. She was there, willing. I took the offer. She enjoyed it." Kelly watched Rene as she settled back down though fuming.

"She is my only relative surviving. She is the only reason I live. Isis is all I have. I swear if you hurt her Kelly. I will cut your head from your body!" Rene eyed Kelly with hatred that had never diminished over the years.

"I did not hurt her. In fact, I would say she wants it again. I wanted to give her at least a moment of happiness. Something she would not forget." Kelly continued then sat forward in her seat.
"I want to take Isis from the drow."

"What? NO!" Rene suddenly sat up too eyes wide in shock.

"So you would rather she be beaten, bled, and never know a moment of freedom?" Kelly asked.

"Like you could do any better." Rene scoffed and her words dripped with sarcasm.

"If I got her from the drow, she would have one...no...two cities to walk freely in. She would be able to see the light of day again. People to socialize with. And protection." She watched Rene chew on the words.

"But she is bound most likely like I am. She is only a simple crafter." Rene's words came between shortened breaths.
Kelly noticed the instant near-panic in Rene's behavior and heartbeat. "I will pay them another visit. Soon. You do know they their young prince use her as his tool as well?" She watched Rene.

"I know she says she takes care of him in her letters to me." Rene so wanted that to be the truth.

"More like he abuses her every chance he gets and holds my coming to visit as a means to keep her under his thumb. She is little more than a punching bag to him. A tool." Kelly continued. "I have asked to see their little prince. I promised not to bite him." She smirked.

Rene sat in quiet thought a long moment. "I don't know how you could break the bond without one of us dying. If something happened to Nalimar, Isis and I both die. Same if something happened to one of us, Nalimar would die too." Rene studied Kelly.

Kelly sat back in thought. "You would make a strong vampire." She stated.

Rene blinked in total shock. "What?"

"Your hatred drives you. Yet, you have a strong sense of loyalty to Isis. Your concern and care for her, you have an inner strength you do not realize you have. These are good qualities we look for. Though I know it is only a humoring thought as you would never commit to such." She grinned, knowing she planted the seed of temptation. She could see Rene back-peddling mentally.

"Like that would ever happen. A knight gone vamp." Rene retorted.

"It has been known to happen once in a while." Speaking serious yet calm.

"What would Ian think of having me in the fold?" A twinge of curiosity etched in her words. Her stature relaxing as she began to contemplate. "He'd kill me."

"Ian would be happy to have you among us. Ian kills everyone." Kelly chuckled. She saw Rene grin at that comment as well.

Kelly knew the hour was getting late. The seeds of temptation had been planted.

"You have a lot to think on Renenutet. I want to get Isis from the drow." Kelly watched Rene.

"I don't see how you can do that without one of us dying." Rene spoke up quickly.

Kelly grinned and sat forward. "My dear. No one will die if I obtain the blood of the drow and you. I already possess Isis' blood." She removed her gloves and placed her right hand on the table. "Let me show you something."

Rene watched her with curiosity, studying Kelly's every move.

Kelly pulled a knife fromher pack and held it up for Rene to see. She turned the hilt to Rene. "Take my hand."

Renenutet was more than pleased at the offer, though disappointed it was not her neck. She raised the blade high and brought it down across Kelly's wrist, severing the hand clean.

Kelly half growled and half yelled in pain. " Yes....that...hurt like...hell!" She then focused on the bleeding stump, closing her eyes a moment. She then spoke softly to the pool on the floor. "come to me." The blood seemed to reverse direction, streaming back to the stump. Not a trace was left. Her stump looked now like a bloodied tendril as she held it out to the severed hand. It too became a crimson pool and seemed to be sucked up into the tendril, reforming her hand in moments.
Kelly showed her the hand as if nohing had happened. Even the blade in Rene's hand was clean.
"I have mastered control over blood. All I need is but a droplet. However, the more I obtain, the more I can do." Kelly saw the disgust in Rene's eyes.

"That was....disgusting." She said.

"Let me show you more of my power. Watch." Kelly held up her hand, palm up. A crimson orb formed from her hand. "Isis." Kelly spoke softly. The sphere moved and took on the shape of a woman. Took the shape of Isis.
Rene sat up and blinked, watching in disbelief.
Kelly looked to Rene. "That is Isis." She looked down at the small crimson figure. "Look up." Kelly whispered the command. They both watched as Isis looked up, not seeming to know why or where, but hearing the command. Kelly then absorbed the sphere and replaced the glove. "I could place her into a deep sleep."
Rene shook her head. "Nalimar would dispose of her."

Kelly chuckled. "To some yes. But this is power. Power few know I have. I want to help Isis."
Rene cocked her head at Kelly. "How?"
"I want to give her some of my blood."
"What?!" The candle hit the floor that was on the table. "Kelly! If you hurt her."
Kelly shook her head. "For centuries vampires have been hunted down. The main excuse was that we are evil and mockeries of life and all that's beautiful. Many alchemists and mages hunted us as well." She paused a moment. "What are vampires known for other than fangs and evil?" She paused and rephrased the sentence. "What quality are vampires known for other than fangs and evil?"

Rene thought a moment. "Immortality?"

"Not so much immortality as it is longevity and regeneration. By my giving Isis some of my blood, it will help ease her pain. It will also lengthen her life." Kelly put her gloves back on.

"Promise me you wont hurt her." Rene looked at Kelly.
She pulled a glove off and formed a droplet of blood on her index finger. "Hold out your hand."
Rene held her hand out, palm up.
Kelly let the droplet fall to her hand, the droplet taking the hardness and look of a teardrop-shaped ruby. "I swear on my blood I will not harm Isis."

"Do not forget your...teacher. The offer extends to him as well. For now, think on the offer. You would have power. Not to mention knowing where we were." Kelly grinned as she stood and walked past Rene toward the door. "For now, sleep well. We will meet up again." Kelly walked outside and opened her runebook, uttering the words to take her home.
