The Kitsune stood atop the gates of Cove, strong and sure. Keen eyes surveyed his surroundings, and Cezanne knew that he was looking for her. A tiny bubble rose in her chest and caught in her throat. For a brief moment she was buoyant and giddy, as she had been when she wore the feathered tails and pranced gleefully around her theatre. But such feelings were for young girls, and Cezanne knew she must control herself, never seeming too enraptured, too forward. Morio Kitsune would surely not be impressed by such behaviour.

Wrapped in shadow, she crept ever closer – close enough to see his tails ripple subtly in summer’s breeze. Close enough to breathe in his scent. Cezanne closed her eyes and inhaled slowly, silently, reveling in the feeling of closeness. Within seconds, she realized her error. She should have known better, and cursed herself silently. She willed her eyes open, her heart jumping spastically in her chest. The Kitsune was looking directly at her, despite her stealth. She should have known he would sense her.

“You find me easily, Love,” Cezanne cooed as the shadows around her dissolved. “You must have a sense for these things.”

“This isn’t right,” Morio stated flatly, keeping his distance. “You must be under some sort of spell. It’s not natural for someone to feel the way you do about a total stranger.”

Cezanne bit her lip. Rebuffed! She shook her head and smiled reassuringly. “I have never felt this way in my life. For the first time, I know exactly what I want. It’s as if I have known you all my life – for eternity!”

Morio broke their locked gaze to look out over the people below, scurrying about their daily errands. Cove was a peaceful city. But his intensity did not waver.

Cezanne could tell by the Kitsune’s demeanour that she was still not welcome to come closer. She felt her buoyancy slipping, her heart plunging toward the pit of her stomach. “Do you not feel it too…?” Morio looked back at her silently, arms crossed in front of himself. A defensive gesture. Reality began to sink in and the world swam around Cezanne’s head. “You don’t, do you?” She swayed slightly….still no answer…She crossed her arms too, but only to hold herself together. “I must be mad…”

Morio finally answered. “I am in love, Cezanne. But with my wife.”

Cezanne was jolted from the waves of despair at the word. “Wife? You have...a wife?”

Morio nodded. “Hai, I have been bonded for some years now.”

Cezanne grasped for a handhold on her sanity, uttering the first response that came to mind. “You would not forsake her for a taste of forbidden fruit?” She smiled, but the gesture was forced.

Morio seemed to gain the strength that Cezanne was losing, hand over fist. “A Kitsune does not back down on his word.”

And then, the curtain fell on Cezanne’s expression. Instinct took over, and she straightened her shoulders, looking Morio directly in the eyes. “Well,” she said evenly, “this certainly changes things. Mmm...Bonded for life, are you?”

Morio sensed the shift of power, and his eyes surveyed Cezanne’s face as he replied carefully. “Hai…”

Cezanne smirked and took a step toward him. “Yours? Or hers?”

Morio stood relaxed with Haydn beside him and Arakad in the middle of Cove, just chatting, it was the first time that Haydn had actually met Arakad.

Morio noticed that Cezanne was around and Haydn picked up that there was someone hidden, the citizens of Cove going about there daily business. Haydn then proceeded to take out one of her bows and start to clean it, Morio knew better and knew in a heart beat an arrow would be fitted to the string and ready for battle.

Cezanne actually walked up to the trio, the conversation light, just introducing herself mainly for Haydn's sake....

"Something is amiss here..." Morio thought, hardly saying anything when his wife and the twoleg female talked Morio just looked on trying to find the hidden plans...

Shaking his head he had lost focus on the convirsation and it had come to its end...

"May your arrow fly straight..." Morio said at the retreating form of Cezanne

"Oh it will, and may yours fly straight aswell." She replied

She then walked off, Haydn had finished the "Cleaning" of her bow and stowed it again....

Something is definatly amiss here....
